I was wondering if it was ok to run nitro rc in the winter - where it doesn't snow and the temperature goes about 40-60F (houston, tx).

Also, i read that you shouldn't really lean out the car during the cold weather but rather richin it. If thats right, how would you bring the engine up to temp?

Thanks

i run mine here in Michigan With the snow!

so sure is good. yes you need to richen the needles. the colder it gets outside the smaller the oxygen molocules get, thus more oxygen is drawn into the motor per stroke, so the richer your needles need to be to compensate.

i Honestly never had to much of an issue getting the motors to start and run, just need a bit more warm up time. some people swear you need to pre heat the motor with a hair dryer or heat gun, but to date, i have yet to have the need to use one.

I run in the snow too and I just keep the truck inside for a while to get the engine to room temp. and then take it outside and it starts right up.

Another trick is to wrap aluminum foil around the cooling head to keep the temp up. The other method is to cut off the cuff of an infant sock and slip it over the head. Then you still have good access to the glow plug.
