often, when i am driving, my failsafe will kick in for no aparent reason, although when it kicks in i still have steering and it is starting to bug me it is happening verry often. any idea whut it could be? my failsafe is new to

Do you run your rig always at the same place? Could be some interference in that area. Used to do that to me, and i changed area and that fixed my problem.

That question poses Two other logical questions.

1) Are you using a 4AA battery cell unit or a 6VDC Rx pack for the receiver ?

If you use The 4AA battery cell unit, then most likely your batteries are not giving out enough power and the failsafe is doing it's job properly.

Information

A failsafe kicks in at around 4 volts so if it keeps kicking in regularly, try running a 6 VDC (Thats 6volts Direct Current) Rx Pak.

2) is your vehicle within "Range".

If your vehicle is fairly close, say 30 feet away, and the failsafe is kicking in, then it is your battery choice that is causing the problem, either the 4AA's are not giving out enough power, or the 6 VDC Rx Pak is flat and needs charging, with the failsafe kicking in and doing it's job. If, however, your failsafe kicks in at a fair distance, then it may be that your vehicle is "Out of range" and the failsafe is doing it's job as it should be.

well, I've been running my car in the same spot for 2 years so i know there is no interferance. also, when i got the failsafe i also nought a new switch, and a new 4 AA battery holder. bad wires caused my car to go full throttle before and run off so i got the failsafe and new everything related to power. the bateries are brand new.

Ok, heres the deal. DITCH the 4AA battery holder and get a 6VDC Receiver pak. It should ease you problems regarding the failsafe kicking in, plus, with 6VDC, your servo's are slightly faster and slightly more powerful.

you WILL NOT regret getting a 6VDC pak. in fact, buy 2. One for the rig, and one spare. When the one on your rig goes flat, switch it out for the fully charged spare and presto you have doubled your run time.

Generally for me, my paks last between an hour to an hour and a half each, but thats due to them being 1050MAh.

generally, higher MAh paks give longer run times.

k, if i get that batery pack, i will also need a charger. so if i could get a link for that i would aprechiate it...and also for the time being should i simply disconnect my failsafe?

KEEP THE FAILSAFE INSTALLED AND CONNECTED, ffs do NOT run without it, its a $30 part that protects a $400 rig (thats an example price BTW).

Also, if you do a search on the a-main site for "Battery charger" it should help you find what you want. Try to go for a trickle charger (overnight type) as they give a better and longer lasting charge to the batteries. Peak chargers tend to only part charge the battery and you end up losing run time to a flat battery a bit quicker than you normally would if you had used a trickle charger.

Alternatively, buy both. That what i did. Peak charger i use to boost my battery for testing the servo's before i plan to run, then trickle charge it overnight after i finished testing the servos operate ok.

Didn't you learn your lesson running without a failsafe? Get a traxxas power pack. It's $40. Comes with charger and 1100mah battery. Or look on ebay. I found one for $25.

1100mah ??? thats a bit behind the times meatloaf_matt ( sorry dude, i'm just messin, will get your name straight one day), i seen 1600mah paks out there they last a bit longer than 1100.

But...........i do see your point battery and charger for $40 is a good deal.

batery's and chargers make no since to me lol thats the only reason why i didnt get into electric

Worst recommendations for a RX pack ever....Sorry but traxxas's stuff is over priced...40 bucks for a RX back with only 1100mah is STUPID!

Onlybatterypacks.com sells Good quality RX packs for really cheap. They are highly recommended by a few members here.
