is there a knid of set way to take the flywheel off an engine? i bought an engine with one on and i have no idea how to get it off. its a force .18 engine

Taaaaa

it looks as if there could be a bolt holding the flywheel against a grooved disk, looks as if the disk is to grip the flywheel and keep it in place, does this bolt just undo? and if so what do i hold whilst trying to undo it.

sorry if its all a bit vague, i bought the engine with it on, and I've never bulit an engine, or dismantled one to a point of taking the flywheel off.

cheers

Ok, you still need to remove the clutch nut. There are several ways you can do this. I use a piston locking tool that keeps the engine from turning over while trying to unscrew the nut. You can also use a pair of channel locks and a rag. Put the rag around the flywheel leaving the nut accessable, hold it with the channel locks and unscrew the nut. The rag is just to keep the flywheel from getting chewed up. Then use the puller to remove the flywheel. To remove the flywheel without the use of a puller you could try tapping the backside of the flywheel with something like the butt end of a screwdriver, but I really don't like hitting the flywheel, especially with a battery terminal puller being so cheap and readily available.

Personally, I prefer the pliers on the flywheel method better; I've cracked a couple pistons using a piston "cracking" tool.

did it :)

it was very tight, i held the flywheel and used an 8mm socket to undo the nut :)

the flywheel just pulled off with ease!?

Thanks again,
It was the last part i needed the most, about the flywheel nut ;)

Cool, glad you got it off. But if the flywheel pulled off with ease your collett may be worn out, you might want to consider replacing it when you put the mill back together.

the engine was new, i only paid 15 pounds for it. it was put together with like the flywheel being pressed against a 'rough' surface to stop it from turning, with the bolt holding it tight against it to keep it still. once the bolt was off there was nothing else on it to keep the flywheel there!?

anyways its off now and i now have a spare engine for when mine packs in :)

its a .18 force engine, looks very nice, and my mate has one, its quite a go-er
