ok well i have decided to leave nitro in the past times and join you electric guys over here

i have an older e-maxx with mip cvds and some 2400 mah nicds it has the evx-2 esc but the old chassis system. So what to start with ,electric gurus please help?

Well Bob. Unlike some people I believe premature teardowns are a waste of time and effort. I would decide what you want to do with it, then power it accordingly. Both the 14.4 and 16.8 Emaxx need power upgrades, so I think you should just start with some low turn motors and get some speed out of her UNTIL you break something.
Then just fix whats broken.
Eventually you'll end up brushless powered with foc, steel gears and alloy 'whatever broke'

If you are going to go brushless in the future than I would sell you emaxx and buy a new emaxx 16.8 because it is alot stronger. That is what I did, Bought a new emaxx, two 2cell 6000mah lipos from maxamp and a novak low voltage cutoff. If you are not than I would just stick will your old one and get lower turn motors and some high mah batteries.

what will the evx2 handle for lipos??
and what are some good motors?

what do i need to charge lipos
i have a dynamite twin peaks atm

To charger lipos you want a lipo charger, I use a duratrax ice and it is great. You will also need a lipo balancer and you need to balance your lipos at least 1 a week. For brushless i have heard good thing about the mamba monster esc and a neu motor or in a couple of weeks castle creations is coming out with a mamba monster system. I called traxxas and for the new emaxx 16.8 you can run 2 2cell lipos as long as you put a low voltage cutoff but you do have to watch the motor temp.

ah ok and any recomendations on motors??

The neu brushless motors with mamba monster speed control. OR you can way for a couple of weeks while you upgrade the transmission, which personally i would go buy a new one because the whole truck is alot stronger and you will spend over $100 upgrading the truck for brushless, for the Mamba monster brushless system. You could go buy one traxxas vilanem brushless system and a 3cell lipo and go alot faster than stock and it is alot cheaper than a bigger brushless system.

hmm may look into that or i may sell it idontknow thanks though

Sort of Charlie. A single Velenion will power it no probs, but only be about as good as the stock brushed setup.
No I'm talking TWIN. Thats how my 16.8v will end up.
But for now putting twin Revolver 700's in it..... 9 turn 5 post brushed.

YOu would have to have two systems. which means two esc and motor and two batteries. But I saw a video of a a single it was pretty fast and this is what he did.

LOL well it was easy i took the twin titans and the old esc out and baught a velineon system (wich has everything you need) and installed it... I had to drill 1 hole for the esc> the motor went right in... I baught a 4 tooth bigger pinion gear and thats were I'm at now.. Yes you could do it to the new emaxx... I'm working with traxxas to make 2 velineon systems work in my emaxx...

I saw a twin brushless emaxx that Traxxas had produced (on the Traxxas site) early this year, they assumed it would go into production around october. Yes it used 2 separate Velineon systems, which could easily be wired to the receiver, the big problem would be making the drivetrain bulletproof for that power.....

Also talking about the Mamba Monster controller. I guess you guys know that the VXL speedie is 200 amp continuous and 320 amp peak. So apart from the multi programming advantage of the Monster, I have no idea why people want to spend all that money on something so fragile.
I shattered the front drive shaft with the Revolver 700's, and have steel ones coming, but will definately be going the twin brushless, but will be gearing her down... Unless someone can assure me a Neu of Fiego will be a harder runner in single. (it would definately be easier)

The new Mamba Monster is outrageous. I've been talking to some guys that are doing a lot of testing on them, and I think I may sell my brand new Novak HV Pro system. These mamba mosters are handling power that I didn't know an ESC can handle.
