I'm looking at a package deal locally on a used Axial AX10 and a Traxxas slash and a charger. The guy said the batteries need replacing but should hold some charge so I can see them run. What is the best replacement batteries for these trucks? They are all stock. I'd appreciate any info. What would it take to change them over to lipo? Just a lipo battery and charger or more mods? Thanks....

If the electronics are stock, all you'd really need is the LiPo packs, charger and a low-voltage cut-off for each vehicle to prevent over discharging the LiPos.

What brand should I get or is there only a few? Those imax lipo balance chargers are all over ebay. What else do I need to know as far as wattage etc???

I just got a used Slash 4x4, and the guy I got it from ran 2 cell 5000 mAh LiPo packs. He used Sky LiPo, which seems to be a really nice brand. I prefer gensacearespammers. Both brands can be found at Hobby Partz for around $25

I have an imax B6 I got off ebay. Got it for $15 shipped, and I couldn't be happier. It came with a bunch of connectors (except power poles, which is what I happen to use) and a pretty good set of aligator clips to attach to my car's battery. If you like charging in the house, they can also take AC adapters that you can find anywhere for only a few bucks.

It can charge a 5000 mAh pack at max current in just under an hour.

Thanks. I'm still learning about RC stuff. I had a HPI savage 4.6 nitro that I had for a short while then I sold it. I wasn't that crazy about all the crap involved with the nitro and starting it and dealing with fuel and adjustments etc... I had been wanting an electric RC for a while and now I ran into this deal. I'll probably give one to my Godson for his B-day as that's what started me searching.

How much are the low voltage cutoffs and where would I get them? Thanks...

That's actually kind of funny, because that is exactly what I just did. I had a nitro T-maxx that was a really beautiful truck. Nearly everything was aluminum, it had a new(ish engine) and it ran pretty great. But I decided I didn't really want, nor did I have the time, to mess with nitro. So I traded to some guy for his Slash 4x4. It's got some more use and it's not quite as pretty as the T-maxx, but I'm just happy that I got completely out of nitro and into electric with $0 cost to me (he even threw in batteries too) :D

Yeah the whole nitro truck concept is super cool and all but it want for me. I sold my savvy for 350 with fuel and all last winter. I got a 2wd slash, and a axial ax10 with a charger and one batt for 225. The only thing is the axials radio has been stooped and is kinda beat but the truck is like new. I feel I got a killer deal. The axial will be a b day gift for my godson and I get a slash. I played with the slash a while and it is fun. I'm gonna get a lipofor tje slash and a brushless later. What's a good radio for the axial ax10 that won't break the bank? If I could find another stock one in good shape would work.

If you want to go 2.4, I like Spektrum myself, but I don't know how much you are willing to spend. Their cheapest transmitter is ~120, plus whatever the cost of a receiver is.

If you want to get something cheap yet still pretty reliable, I know a lot of people that use FlySky. They make some of the cheapest 2.4 systems I've seen. See http://www.hobbypartz.com/fs-g3-24ghz-radio.html and http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-gt3b-carradio-lcd.html and http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-gt2-blue.html

Or I have an old FM transmitter/receiver I'm selling for dirt cheap if you're interested :D

Yeah, I don't want to spend too much. Even the one it has will work for now. It's for my 9 year old Godson. He might drop the transmitter anyway. I might let him break it first then I'll go ahead and get one. PM me the details of your FM transmitter.

Thanks.

If you land the AX10 crap the stick pack and get some lipo packs with a front axle battery mounting plate with 4-link, the stock setup on the AX10 for the stick pack is total garbage for anything that you call fun on the rocks, the center of gravity is WAY too high on them like that.

Exactly which packs would I need for this setup? I take it they are smaller than the stick pack right?
