I started breakin in my new ninja today. I bought a heat gun to help. Well i heated it up to 200 degrees and put it on the box. Well, after i would heat it i would go to start it and the fuel was not getting to the carb. I finally figured out (after changing fuel tanks, pipes, plugs, reset the carb, cooling head etc.) that the carb was vaporizing the fuel in the carb because the carb was too hot.

after that i ran over half a tank cold. I figured out through someone else to keep priming the egine til the carb cools off.

My question is, how bad did i hurt my engine?? runing it cold for that short period. And hammering my poor little new engine on the starter box trying to get it too start (although it was hot then)

Just upset and concerned. I have been planing this for a while and this is my third breakin. was not expecting this go this way.

so how bad did i hurt my engine? still has a ton of pinch. But not quite as much.

don't everybody answer at once.

this forrum is like a graveyard.

why heat it up so hot? Most I've been told to use was a hair dryer. A running temp around 200 or so shouldn't vapourize the fuel in the carb.

You only need to heat the engine up enough so you can start it. As long as your engine sarted, I don't think running it "cold" would do any harm because it generates its own heat. A lot of odd things going on here I don't fully understand. Why were you "hammering" on the starter box, did priming the engine to cool it down cause it to flood?
