Just wondering what pipe/header you are running with the SH 28? I've got the HPI silver ribbed pipe on mine and the damn thing is soooo loud its just not funny anymore. Was out with a mate the other day and I couldn't even tell his Revo had started!! I liked it at the start...but now I'm sick of it.

There seems to be a fair bit of side to side slop with the header, is that what other people are experiencing? Starting to think the header isn't sealing enough (even tho I can kill the engine by blocking the exhaust)

Its the Blue Top version.

Any info would be great,

Gus.

try this: https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35113&highlight=muffler

this is my pet project to quiet my savage. Went from 102 dbs to 96 I think. took some of the edge off.

I forgot about that!! I remember reading it thinking thats a good idea. although I think I also need a new exhaust as 97db is still way more then I want!! (good sign I'm getting old when I want to quiet things down...I used to want them as loud as possible!! Perhaps thats why my hearing is shocking!!)

Yeah, with a .28, it will never be quiet. you should hear some of those .50's or .90's in planes running.

I agree it shouldn't be "quiet" as suck, but when I can't even hear my friends talking to me with it started I think somethings wrong!!!

well, I think mine is about as quiet as my Nitro Evader, now. Unless I want to make a muffler out of a mousse can, then I don't know how much quieter I can go. I call my setup the "keep your neighbors from calling the cops on you" mod.

I'll definatly give your mod a try, I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the help

The HPI tuned pipe is quite a bit quieter than the Ribbed pipe. Adding a silicone stinger deflector will knock some of the edge off the noise as well. It won't silence it by any means, but it makes a noticable difference.

Also, for the sloppy header fit, try these header seals: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000426515&I=LXNT07&P=K

I used them when I ran an Omega engine in my savage. It had a smaller exhaust port and those gaskets are quite a bit thicker than any other one I tried. They made the header fit nice and snug. I had to put a drop of oil on them to get them on, but they sealed nice.

i run a ritter cyle pipe w/ my sh 28. Great power all over. Sounds like a YZF 400 bike.

its fairly quiet, but not louder than the hpi ribbed. (Worst pipe made :boxing: )

Also ran CVEC, quiet, but lacked Top End. Tuning was not the issue. It just LACKED top end!

^ as for those Ofna Seals, Kyosho's will seal even better

When I had a savage, I tried a CVEC pipe, and it was MUCH quieter. I ran a Wasp .28 tho.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

Do you have a link for this pipe? I did a search on tower and google but came up with nothing, I'd love for my Savage to sound like a 400 motorbike!!!!

I have a radio shack digital one. Paid like $50 or so. I use it for balancing my suround sound system, also. And to see how loud my motorcycle pipes are.
