putting big joe tires on revo and savage

I am going to be getting two sets of big joe tires to run on my revo and my savage xl. The revo has 17/36 gearing right now and has the red dot .26. I have heard people say to gear down the spur gear to 40 tooth because the tires are bigger. Do you think this will be necessary to gear both the savage and the revo down for these tires?

Yeah,the bigger tires will noticeably affect the power without a gear change.

you may also want to upgrade your steering servo if you have not allready done that

Personally I found them to be very very soft so I stayed away, but you may want to consider taping the inside to stiffen them up a little. Just my 0.02
