was driving my Earthquake 3.5 and went through a little bit of water, and the car stalled... when trying to start it again, the pully system was very hard to pull. so i went home, thought it might be flodded, i took out the spark plug and when i took it out and pulled the pully system, it was easy to pull, when i put the spark plug back it, it was hard to pull again... this is my first RC car and i got it a couple weeks ago this is first problem i dont know what to do. Please help? thanks!

sounds like you may have gotten water in the engine. best to take the head off and have a look.

if you are refering to the pull start then yes. water cannot be compressed, air can.

try pulling the glow plug out and pull it over a few times fast and see if anything comes out.

Turn it over also before you hit the pull start.

Ok so i turned it over, took out the Glow plug and pulled the pully and a little bit of fluid came out (not to much)... put it back together and still hard to pull. So I'm going to take the head off, any suggestions on the precautions i need to take?

Look for scoring in the cylinder if it was hot enough and that water was cold it could of distorted something. Tear it down check it out don't know how much time is on it you may want to rebuild it.Its kinda like calling a doctor and asking him to examin you on the phone.:hehe:

also check the starter itself to make sure there is no rust or anything in it. just be careful with the spring, it can pop out.

Ok, i took the Head off, and I'm no Expert... but there was a small amount of dirty liquid in it and I'm sure its not suppose to be dirty at all... Ok, so when the Car went in the water, the Air cleaner sponge was completely soaked with muddy water, now, Could my problem be caused by water getting through the Air cleaner? if thats the case, id my engine ruined? :/

no not atall u engine should be fine flush every thing in nitro let it all dry of and put it all bak together and try it and it should work

the engine should be ok, but you will need to completly clean it out. this includes removing the head, the carb, and the backplate and cleaning out the cylinder and block. you can use something like brake cleaner, or nitro spray, to get all the goop out. be sure to lube everything with after run oil before you put it back together. clean and re oil the filter, and try again.

If your gona pull the sleeve out make sure you mark it so it goes back in the way it came out otherwise your gona have a new problem.:D

Ok... Update, i have the engine completely apart, and i still dont see what is causing the problem. when i first took the engine apart, in the internals, there was some borwn looking liquid, i was wondering if that was oil or dirty water? also, when i reassemble the engine, what do i oil up? One other thing (becasue I'm new to this) the exhaust pipe was leaking Oil also when it was just sitting there and i was working on the engine. Any tips on puting the engine back together would be very helpful, thanks!
