Does anyone know if I can get a pull-start engine to fit on a Mugen MBX5 or Kyosho 777 Buggy?

Are there special engine mounts to make it work with non-pullstart and pull-start engines?

I don't know of any engine that will mount up to an X5 or 777 that is pull start. Jon2 went through the aches of trying to put a pullstart on an x5, he never got it to work. You can PM him and he'll give you the details of what he tried.

You need to make a mount that is taller to clear the bottom of the pullstart housing. It would also help to make an adjustable mount that uses a nut like the GS storm adjustable mounts. I tried making a set for Jon2 but failed because I was unable to cut the slot for the mount. You need to find a key cutter to cut the mounting slot for the nut. I was unable to find one and attempts to make one resulted in many broken bits.

Darn. Ok, I was afraid of that. I was just thinking of being able to use one of my back-up engines for those days that I don't feel like lugging around my starterbox.

I know, how about I use an engine mount from a GS Racing Buggy or Truggy, would that work? Would the mount line up with the same holes?

Don't think that will work as the mount holes underneath on the X5 mounts are further apart. The GS ones and Ofna ones won't work. You will either have to do some machining on the mounts or go with a non pulstart mill. I just went with a Rossi P5. It got rid of that head ache real fast...really.

The mounting holes do not line up.
LOL..Beat me to it!

you could make them work.i have seen it done.you have to make spacers to go between the motor and motor mount.which raises the motor to clear everything
