I was wondering what was a good pull start engine for the ntc3.. I want power, and lots of it. I can spend 150 dollars on an engine. So..whatz a good engine

:p :p Smurf :p :p

you're actually just below the price cut-off for any real engine that would make any huge difference. The stock motor that comes in the NTC3 is a 1hp Thunder Tiger.

Properly set up and with a CVEC pipe on it, you can compete with some of the higher-end engines.

Anyway, it's my philosophy that if I'm just a bit short on cash of the part that I want, but there's something "nearly" as good that I can afford now... I save the extra few weeks or months and get the one that I want instead of buying what's kinda good at the moment and kicking myself later for it.

When you do get a new motor, if all out power is what you're looking for. The OFNA, or OS .12s with the Slide Carb and Turbo Head can crank out up to 1.6hp and you'd be looking to spend nearly $230 for those.

Um...I was thinking about getting a OS .12 CV-RX. iz taht any good

The RX is a better engine with more usable RPMs. 4000 more than the Thunder Tiger. That equals out to a little more top speed but it won't accelerate any faster. If you do go with the CV-RX, just be sure to get the 10/c Slide Carb model.

are you planning to race or not? If just for bashing - then get the .15cvrx - get ya a lil more juice. I just purchased a Rossi .12 for my NTC3 and about outran everyone at the race last Sunday. That isnt too far out of your price range. Also - do some searching for info about the OPS .12 and .15 - saw several guys at the race this weekend with those engines, they swore by them, the cars were VERY fast, and said that the engine only cost 130.00
hope that helps.

I hate pullstart for ntc3. It's almost impossible to start it up with the body on. Starter boxes are so great.

:classic: i can agree with that, my NTC3 RTR was pulls start and i took that off and put cover on, and now it is so grean not having to take off body, it is just... uhh.... AWSOME!

About that Cvec pipe for the NTC3 anyone got one on there, does it help out? what is the diff? I am looking at a new engine, or something that will help out with acceleration! i still need to get 2 speed!

I have the CVEC on mine and I got to try it out at the races last Sunday. It's just a tad louder but I noticed a major increase in gas mileage immediately. Before, I was finishing a 5 minute race with almost a 1/4 tank left, now it's nearly half a tank left over.
I also noticed a bit more of a top end increase and possibly about 4k more RPMS than I was getting on the top end.

Anyway, I'm trying some of the other more "performance" settings this weekend and see how that goes. I'll be sure to post the results.
