I would like to get more power from my Swift engine, maybe a turbo plug ?. has anyone seen a good article for getting more power out of these engines ?. It is tuned fine, I would just like some more speed!!

As far as the Swift Pro goes, it will not be imported into the U.S. by Power Racing, although we have all the upgrade parts in stock right now. That box may be an old picture, I designed it in March. I'm not sure if Schumacher will be bringing it to the UK or not.

Many of us would prefer to buy a kit with no engine.
By only releasing a RTR it implies that PRP are not serious about the Swift as a Racing buggy. With the parts already in production & even the box designed, I don't understand why?

would the mugen one-piece motormount fit the swift ???

can anodised parts by recoloured by anodising again over the original color ?

when somebody asked about this kind of BRINGING UP A BIT MORE OUR OF YOUR ENGINE... then i will give them this link:

http://www.donegal.flyer.co.uk/10 low budget horsepower secrets 1.htm

but.... at least our swift has given us the
TUNED PIPE and NICE MANIFOLD.....

and another suggestion... if you have extra money (for another engine).... LEAN YOUR CURRENT ENGINE TO THE MAX!!!! LOL....

and I DONT THINK YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR PLUG TO TURBO PLUG with your RTR engine... am i correct?

The turbo plug has a tapered thread and requires a matching head button also with a tapered thread. The tapered thread should provide a better seal on a high compression engine, but other than that I'm at a loss to explain what the advantages might be over a normal plug.

The stock SH engine in the Swift is just a basic three-port. It's strengths seem to be mid-range torque rather than top-end power. There are no miracle upgrades for this engine, but you could try using 25% nitro fuel, a Nova Rossi #6 plug and a half-decent inline tuned pipe set.

If you want to keep up with the Italian-powered buggies then you will need to get a similar engine. The new OS VZ-B shows a lot of potential for a modest price.

Anodising is an electrolytic process that increases the thickness and hardness of the oxidation layer that occurs naturally on aluminium.

The colouring is simply a dye that penetrates the thick oxidation layer and can be removed by leaving the parts in a solution of Sodium Hydroxide (washing soda).

AFAIK, dying the parts again requires special chemicals, not commonly available to the public.

that mean you can use TURBO PLUG to the swift's SH engine?
i always thought that normal RTR engine wont take turbo plug.....

I've been looking at Swift to Kyosho parts compatability,

Shocks:-
Kyosho shocks need some mods to fit, the shock caps have a bigger hole than the swifts, but come with a plastic bush that makes the hole smaller. The solution is to drill out the bushes, or by Kyosho shock standoffs. The Swift stand-offs have a hex on each end, this hits the kyosho caps. I have turned off the hex on one end, in a lathe. My car is still in bits, but when I've finished I'll post a picture.

Clutch & flywheel:-
I've not got this far yet but I bought a set of Kyosho shoes & springs.
Will post whether they actually fit, at a glance it should.

Roll bars:-
Kyosho roll bars are just too narrow on the centre flat. It might be possible to trim the gearbox casing to make them fit. I've bought the PRP kit but they seem a bit soft to me. Time will tell.

Diffs:-
Kyosho diffs & diff parts are not in any way compatible. I was trying to fit a LSD in the front end, No way. The crown gears a totally different sizes & offsetts. There is No chance of fitting a Swift crown gear to a Kyosho diff even. Here's a challenge, someone prove me wrong on this one!!

I've no experience with mugens yet.

The Mugen white teflon shoes are reputed to last significantly longer than the black ones.

CorradoPsi said
replace the clutch bearings for prevenative maintainance, and use mugen or kyosho carbon clutch shoes, and new springs of your choice. check your clutch more often so you dont ruin another clutchbell.

wagnerov said
White clutch shoes are usually made of of teflon. They tend to make the clutch feel "heavy" or draggy, so effectively you get less punch on acceleration. It's common to use teflon clutches on 2WD trucks to make them easier to drive. For buggies, white shoes are usually used for really fluffy surfaces where there is little bite.

and also he said this on 9th OCT 2004

PRP should have another clutch shoe available soon. I am not sure if it will simply replace the old squishy ones or not. The new one is a lot better, that much I know.

so CAM... is PRP already bring out the NEW IMPROVED BLACK CLUTCH SHOE?

maybe i wasn't obvious enough. everyone take a long hard look at your swift taking into account the revised parts that are now out, and compare it to the picture i posted...................

I am really confused,

Power Racing arn't releasing the Swift Pro.

RD Logic are releasing a car which looks exactly like a Swift Pro!
(Though doesn't look like the Pro shock towers)

Check the www.powerracingrc.com site, they have a new car callled the Katana, which looks like a swift with different front suspension!

Has anyone looked at the Protech Enigma. See review at www.twf8.ws

I think the factory in China has been busy Eh!

so now you know CHINA STYLE eh?

i dont know whether we can use ALL (i mean ALL) parts from ENIGMA and RD LOGIC... did they take 100% parts from SWIFT or they did change the geometry or dimension of the parts?

and why PRP dont have the REAL RIGHTS on the SWIFT DESIGN and allow NANDA (maybe) to distribute to others?

:) mop :)

katanamain.jpg

by the look of it... KATANA uses:
upgrade SHOCK for SWIFT (which are bigger)
.27 engine from the RAPTOR
upgrade parts for the FRONT ASSEMBLY for SWIFT (the copper colour)

but i am interested in the A ARM... looks really tough!!!

:) mop :)

here is the SWIFT is you want to compare

My understanding was that the Protech car came out first,
the Swift was a development of this,
The Pro parts were developed by PRP.

Correct me if this is wrong?

Maybe thats why the RD Logic version doesn't have the Pro shock towers.

Steering linkage Problem,

I am finding that the steering linkages don't have enough Up/Down travel and is limiting the amount of front suspension travel. Has anyone else noticed this, if so whats the solution?

I tried repacing the rose joint type balls with a single ball & two cone washers, but this doesn't really seem to help much.

Anyone have any ideas?

I might try Kyosho ball joints, but my MP7.5 suffers the same problem to some degree. :nono:
