That's what you would think, but man... I ended up taking the low end all of the way lean till it would stall at idle. I then started adding fuel little by little till I got it to idle just fine, then the final tweaks, but I don't think that's the problem to be honest with you. It idles just fine now, but maybe that is the problem, just don't see how.

You still got the A5 plug in?
Maybe it's too cold (not retaining enough heat at idle)?
Try the original R4 plug instead.

I hope it's not the A5 that is the problem as I have just bought one :(

I will have to check with my LHS on that one... I don't know what else they carry to be honest with you. I have like 4 of them... I hope not too! I'm sure they will take the unopened one back though. They are pretty cool. You really think that could be it though? Man... never heard of that before.

WA2FAST: Niggle did bring up a good point about the low end being too rich, but you had the low end needle turned in until the motor turned off at idle. The only thing I can reccomend is to change out your glowplug or change the length of the fuel line.

Could also be too lean. When you open the throttle you get a rush of air in and then the air speed drops through the carb venturi. The carb relies on air speed to draw the fuel out of the needle/jet.

Carburettors on full size cars have accelerator pumps to enrichen the mixture when the throttle is suddenly opened.

On the much simpler carbs on 2 stroke model engines, you need an idle mixture that is rich enough to see you through the transition from the idle needle to the main needle.

Crappy weather today again  I'll have to play with it more tomorrow. Thanx guys.

Hey guys..

For that GS Storm front bumper what all do you cut off for it to work.. I just picked one up and I was wondering the changes that need to happen.. Also, the mounting holes that go through the bumper then into the trans look like they are not the same?? Do custom holes need to be drilled for mounting??

Thanks

Hey Jay... yeah... you need to take that center post all of the way down and almost all of the way out entirely... I think there is a stub left on mine. Also, you will need to drill the actual bumper from the inside out on the bottom a little to allow the bumper to slide back far enough to drill holes... you'll see once you start taking that middle piece out. I ended up dremmeling almost that entire center post all of the way to the bumper curve (not totally though, I was able to leave a little for stability), and then you'll see where you need to take material off after that... it is on the bottom most part of the actual bumper curve, you will need to dremmel into the bumpers curve at the bottom... on either side of where the part slides between the frame and diff box. Does that make sense? Let me know, cause I can try to explain better and take a shot of it when I get home. I will see if I can take a pic of it with it ON the car so that you can see what I mean.

Waterford!!?? Is this the kickoff (1st race) that was supposed to happen last weekend? Dude, Waterford isn't far from me at all. E-Mail me so that I can get ahold of you... I should be ready for this weekend.

Thanks for the info.. I'll be hacking away with my dremel tonight.. If you could post some pics that would be great..

I sent you an e-mail about this weekend..

Jay

NICE TRACK JAY !!!

Yeah, I had a dremel session last night and I hacked mine up pretty well.

Spur Gear

Anyone know if any spurs from other cars will fit? I've managed to lose a few teeth from the stock one and my LHS won't be getting anything from PRP for a few weeks.

Try ordering a spur through www.atlashobbies.com. I know that he ships anywhere and he's got some of the best prices for parts online. Part number is 11603. It says " proline " but I think he meant PRP :)

Well Gentlemen.........

I'm leaving you now.....

I didn't exactly have a great deal of luck with my Swift, and then while it was "off the road" waiting for spares from Schumacher UK I went and bought myself a Savage truck, then spent loads on shiny bits and then went and bought a TRUCKZILLA kit, basically an extended chassis and a 46!!!! engine! So my Swift is going to a very good home............ "Niggle" might tell all if you ask him?!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for all your help and support in my dark hours when the Swift was dead (most of the time!) I'm sure Niggle will look after it and give it a very good home!

Thanks again.

Best Regards

Aaron

Alright Savage... take er' easy man... have fun with the new toy. Niggle... is this your 2nd one now? You now have a Swift fleet! Hey Jay, how'd that work out for you? Did those pictures help at all? I didn't take it off... but I did the best I could with taking close-ups with the bumper on so that you could see how it all fits together and where you have to dremmel... let me know. Shoot me an e-mail back when you get a chance too.

Roger, any word on those outdrives? These things are starting to get worn and ovalized on mine... you have any idea as to when they may be ready to be shipped and/or any idea if there will be some sort of "upgrade" program available? Please let me know, I know you guys will take care of us.

Not seen Aaron's old car yet (only just sent him the $$$s). It's not a runner at the moment but is by no means beyond economical repair.

The idea was to treat the two cars as a combined, cost efficient parts pool, rebuilding onto the "spare" when the running car gets broken. When my son finds out he's going to be nagging me to have both cars running and it's going to be really difficult to start cannibalising one of them for spares.

My Swift

I picked this up last month on Ebay. The engine has great compression, I just need a new cooling head as half a fin is missing. Otherwise, it is mint and I could not pass up this deal.

My Swift

Now. I have ordered the Kyosho blue springs, 1.3 mm pistons, 7,000wt + 1,000wt, + 3,000wt for the diffs, red and blue locktite, and diff shims. I plan to rip it open this weekend. For tires, I have the original PRP set that came with it which look like crime fighters I think. I ordered a set of PRoline multispike, and just bought a set of TRC GRIP (CHEAP!) brand new on ebay. My track is very loose (loamy I guess?) with some heats grippy when the wet it down and loose again near the end, hopefully I have the right selection of tires
.

8 scale is new to me, please let me know if I am on the right track with the stuff I have ordered. Oh yeah, for steering, I have a futaba 111oz, .10 transit servo, not sure what I will use for throttle yet.

Man, that was one hell of a deal. That was definitely a gen 1 Swift, did it come with any electronics at all? That body is sick!

Niggle... thats pretty much what I would do too... a whole spare parts car is a good idea, you don't really have to worry about anything... just keep track of screws and c-clips that you rip off of it so that when you do go to put it back together, you're not SOL from taking small parts that you forgot about.

And the cheque arrived today........

So, first thing tomorrow there'll be a Swift on it's way to sunny Huddersfield!!!

No need to worry about c (or e) clips, I bought a pack and they're included in the box of wreckage!

:llama:

I always wanted to put a post with a Llama in........

:bunny:
