First time posting on the swift.

At my local track, Roger who works at PRP gave me the down low on what they are doing to fix some the first production problems. I asked about the cvd, wing, etc. I asked if his boss and all the guys would come out last saterday, the 14 of feb, but that they were over seas addressing the quality control problems in the factory. I hope to see the boss next week.

First, the cvd they found out that the guys putting together the cars did not locktight them. The second production cars have them locktighted. I didn't say if they sand a flat spot, but I would still dremel them and make sure the cvds are tight.

The wing he said is going to be fixed with a different plastic which will not be so britle. One reason the boss is at the factory.

The diff gears will also be fixed. They found out that the gears inside the diff where only getting heat treated with 30% heat. They will get them up to 60%. Another reason why the boss is at the factory.

Some other interesting points;

His car, which is a prototype for the next version had the MBX4 Front upper arms cause he said the stock swift gave too much caster. They are working on a new upper arm that will be introduced in the Pro Version

Yes, they are working on getting Hop-up parts that will be outsourced and made by themselves which will be in the Pro Version this summer.

I haven't read this whole post, but I hope this is news to all of you guys. It is exciteing to see a good car produced by a company that feels strong about their car. I'll let you guys know what other info I get

Thays good news to hear that they won't stop inproving until they get things right so as to really make it a competition buggy, ready to roost, as they say.

As for now, all of us who bought the first production units with some manufacturing defects deserve a beer, while we wait for the parts to arrive......

tornado 16%

i am running 16% tornado fuel, just looked in the swift manual and they recommend 20%, should i change to 20% tornado or blue thunder or does it not really make much difference. :flamer:

Re: tornado 16%

Torando 25 is the way to go.
I've tried Monster 20% and the engine was too hot (280 F to 310 F), hard to tune and idles inconsistently.
When i switched to tornado 25 my novarossi P5T engine performed much better. Same case with my .12 Novarossi NST1S5 engine. Much cooler, easier to tune and good idle. Was like night and day!

Don't use blue thunder. I've seen and heard lots of bad things about this fuel. I would reccomend O'donnell, Byron, and trinity fuels. I haven't had any experience with tornado fuel. I usually use 30% mugen seiki ( same as byron fuel ) for my .21's with a engine temp at 230-250 degrees.

I use byrons 20% nitro 16%lubrication, I've gone to all the lhs in the area and all other 20% nitro has 12%lubrication or less and some dont say how much it has.

Sup! It's more like a pond right now but it's coming along!:bow:Shane  Have fun cleaning your truck/buggy? Took me a while with just 1. Sticky mud.
I just ordered a steel ring gear and other things from atlas, you think it'd be a lil stronger than the original or would it be the same?

Well here's a good thing. As BT is what my LHS stocks, uses, and races on, it's pretty decent stuff as far as I'm concerned. Maybe they don't have good quality control and end up with bad batches, I don't know. But I feel as though my engine runs very well on it and I wouldn't not recommend it.

To each his own.

Hp invent may i ask what have you heard bad about the blue thunder? I have had nothing but luck with this fuel also tons of people at my track have also......Nick

I've seen and worked on pistons/sleeves locking at TDC due to the fuel gumming overnight and inconsistant carb calibrations on new motors and slightly used motors. I've also seen interanal bearings with-in the block go bad. The bearing will still rotate, but not as smooth. I've also worked with a guy who worked on some of Barry Baker's nitro motors back in 2002 for his NTC3 and he saw me working on a customer's nitro motor cause the piston and sleeve locked up at TDC due to gumming. The first thing he looked at was the sleeve, and then he smelled the block, and he said, " Humm, let me guess, blue thunder fuel. " Keep in mind that all of the issues happened to new motors that have been broken in and slightly used motors. I've seen a previous post that blue thunder may have had a bad batch of fuel, which is totally understandable. If the fuel is working for you, then that's great :) . But, from my experience from being a manager for one of the largest hobbyshops in Northern Califnornia, i've seen noobies and experienced racers that race nitro that have had bad experiences with blue thunder; and switch to a differend brand having great success. I just don't want anybody buying a $250-$600 dollar nitro motor and ruin it due to blue thunder fuel. Now, on the flip side, I've heard some ( and I mean some ) good stories about blue thunder. But then a customer will switch to O'donnell and say, " That O'donnell fuel is the best fuel I used." Nick, what percentage of nitro are you using and are you using the regular blend or the race formula ? I'm glad that BT is working for you and other nitro users in your area. I just wish that some of my customers had more good stories about BT instead of bad stories.

Still TOrnado

I don't own a hobby shop or even manage one. I am just an ordinary nitro RC hobbyist. This is what i can say. Try tornado, and you will wish you have used it all along.

Tornado fuel isn't available in the USA, as far as I know. I used some for testing in China and was impressed...it's not as messy or toxic-smelling as O'Donnell. I didn't run them back to back to see the temp difference, however.

HumboldtBlazer: When your inthe south bay, you gotta check out rctech in Daly City by San Francisco. They are like a hobbyshop stright out of Japan with lots of parts for nitro and electric. Here's thier website: www.rctechonline.com. Take it easy.
