Dear ALL SWIFTERs...

i had my clutch shoes MELTED. Only after 6 litres of NITRO!!!!

is the clutch shoe THAT soft? i even had the SPRING that holds the clutch shoe became soooo sharp!!!! and they grind the clutch bell until the clutch bell become purplelish in colour!!!!

is there any better substitute (from outher buggy) for the clutch shoe for my swift? and do i need to change ONLY the clutch shoe or the whole CLUTCH system (including the collet, flywheel, flywheel holder, clutch shoe, shims and clutch bell....etc etc..?

thanks!

:) mop :)

The Mugen white teflon shoes are reputed to last significantly longer than the black ones.

1000 posts. Keep it up Swifters!

true but different driving charicteristics.

White clutch shoes are usually made of of teflon. They tend to make the clutch feel "heavy" or draggy, so effectively you get less punch on acceleration. It's common to use teflon clutches on 2WD trucks to make them easier to drive. For buggies, white shoes are usually used for really fluffy surfaces where there is little bite.

Hey Cam,

Do you know if starter shafts are available from Power Racing? I ordered part number TS004 from Ace and it has not arrived yet. Can I get one directly from Power?

Any and all help is greatly apreciated.

Unfortunately, Power Racing doesn't sell direct. Power Racing only sells to authorized dealers ( hobbyshops and distributors ).

niggle:
guess i can only pbuy another black SWIFT clutch. coz my LHS doesn't supply other buggy. luckily my cluchtbell is still intact... can use that. but spring and the shoe... definitely need to be replace!!!

Mop_iko: I have this nasty habit of not checking my pm's on all the various message boards I view, and there are a ton. Email is the best way: cam @ happytimehobby.com

PRP should have another clutch shoe available soon. I am not sure if it will simply replace the old squishy ones or not. The new one is a lot better, that much I know.

wagner: thanks for the INFO. i will definitely get the new clutch... but for now i will go for the current clutch shoe... can't wait to get my swift running again. get to blow some sands.... woohoooo....

and do I replace the clutch by a mugen black one or white one or aluminium ones?
mugen outdrives also , at the rear or everywhere?
which parts of other brands ( diffs) will fit ??

are the diffs. leaking ?
which grade of oil in shocks and diffs.? :smoke:
can a smv or other sofisticated clutch be installed ?
can I glue the new blue teflon brakepadds of mugen ?
can't the outdrives that are to soft, be hardened, by heating them and then letting them fall in cold oil or water ????

any 17mm,
no,
gotta tune to where you run,
yes,
dont know about blue pads,
they must be case hardened if you want to do it, there isnt enough carbon present to oil harden.

Smiffy,

all i had upgrade to my SWIFT is...
SANWA WRX SERVOS both for throttle and steering.
SERPENT 710's 5 pack cell for the RX batt pack....(it can fit in the batt box)
FUTABA PCM Receiver (because i am transfering to my 3PK and keep the MX3)
fuel filter

that's it!

:) mop :)

yeah i upgraded alright, to a XB8. tired of powerracing giving my LHS the runaround. ordered the parts i need online to fix it, and we'll see if i keep in and go truggy or sell it. for your servos try JR z270 and Z650 iirc. should be in your price range and decent. i use a futaba 3PM for my cars and love it. i really couldnt think of any more features to use and the range is incredible. try www.onlybatterypacks.com for your receiver pack. i use a 5 AA 2100 mah pack in mine. it fits with room to spare.

hump pack is a 2+2+1 configuration

Another good day

Hey dudes,

Ran again yesterday on our 3/4 flodded track. Could only run a bit of track turns so most of the day was circles and """Jumping""" I did very well again with NO breakage. I did lose 2 cvj pins and fixed 1 there and resumed. The last pin needed the rear end to be pulled so I stopped. All day was awesome except for my friends MBX5 runaway. Slammed a fence pole at top speed. His fault tho. He ran the buggy 80% under water and plowed thru. Then the inevidable 20 mins later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Servo shorted. :-( Funny thing tho, I never heard what a submerged .21 sounded like till then.

Anyways, My Swifty did awesome running and jumping. Another 4 hrs of,,, Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Mikey

I have been having brake problems since July and have not be able to fully enjoy the buggy since before then. The front brakes are grabbing as pretty OK but the rear are not grabbing at all. I have spent weeks trying all sorts of adjustments to get it to work but nothing will get them to engage. I have even purchased new pads but still no brakes. Has any here experienced the same?

I've tested them in two ways, lifting the front end and using the radio gear to engage the brakes. Also I have raised the front end off the ground and engaged the brake by hand. Both scenerios render the same results, No Brakes.

I have not really run the buggy that much as it seems evertime I try some inevitably have to fix something. Now I am not the best driver but I do not hit anything (typically) and I haven't jumped the buggy yet. Also I have between the stock engine and the new VZB I have installed I have only put about 17 to 20 tanks of fuel through the car. (7 of those tanks with the VZB)

So any help brake advise would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing, I am thinking of modifying the black post the actually engages the calipers, but only as a last resort.
