I have been having brake problems since July and have not be able to fully enjoy the buggy since before then. The front brakes are grabbing as pretty OK but the rear are not grabbing at all. I have spent weeks trying all sorts of adjustments to get it to work but nothing will get them to engage. I have even purchased new pads but still no brakes. Has any here experienced the same?

I've tested them in two ways, lifting the front end and using the radio gear to engage the brakes. Also I have raised the front end off the ground and engaged the brake by hand. Both scenerios render the same results, No Brakes.

I have not really run the buggy that much as it seems evertime I try some inevitably have to fix something. Now I am not the best driver but I do not hit anything (typically) and I haven't jumped the buggy yet. Also I have between the stock engine and the new VZB I have installed I have only put about 17 to 20 tanks of fuel through the car. (7 of those tanks with the VZB)

So any help brake advise would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing, I am thinking of modifying the black post the actually engages the calipers, but only as a last resort.

Have you made sure the "linkage" is set up right and adjusted. That will cause un-noticed issues. Also, make sure the allen screws that hold the break assembly are adjusted properly. It should be very easy to see the linkages in operation while on a bench.
Ohh,,,, Are the rear wheels turning when accelerating ?? Maybe the diff gears are not shimmed OR possibly worn.

what servos for brake and throttle??. willing to pay up to 40 pound for this,
what 6v rx pack do you recommed and charger??
what radio system (trainsmitter reciver)??I'm willing to pay up too 200 pound for

at last i have the money to get the upgraDES i need.

cheers guys

Hiya Smiffy.

You can get the Hitec HS645MG and HS625MG servos for about £32 each in the UK.

You can get a 1400mAH hump pack from Russ at www.topoptions.com in the UK for £16. I made my own 1800mAH packs for my Swifts using 5 x AA batteries.

The Futaba 3PM is a nice 40MHz FM 3-channel computerised steerwheel set and retails for £130 or less. The Hitec Aggressor CRX has a very similar specification and price. Look out for the new Aggressor SRX which is even cheaper but is still a 3-channel 40MHz FM computer set. Available as a bundle with a HS645MG servo for around £100.

If you prefer a stick set then the Sanwa Geminii II comes in at around £150.

Hi to all, excuse my English , i am an Italian boy, swift owner I have a problem, frequently detach the front knuckle arms, do you know why?

Hi Wagnerov

i had the same problem. but i know the the cause. i hit a CONCRETE CURB real hard on my first day running my SWIFT. and POP OUT the knuckle arms. And my knuckle arm will pop out fairly easily since that. This is due to the material for the knuckle arm which is the plastic. I have asked NANDA RACING in china (who supply SWIFT here) about the option parts of aluminium knuckle arm... they didnt have the option parts. The resolution to this problem is to buy a new knuckle arm.... which i havent done yet!!!! coz what i will do is to BANG!! the knuckle arm in the pivot ball once it pop out!

From the info in the Schumacher newsletter it looks like the Swift 2 is just an improved RTR model with hardened outdrives, new CVDs, a new bodyshell design and a cheaper retail price.

At last i have my new gear.

Hitec HS645MG and HS625MG, Hi-Tec Aggressor CRX Suppiled with DCX receiver and TX nicads, plus charger, also bought a nice hump pack that fits just rt for the box.

P.S

Are the new outdrives out yet, i know the new swift 2 says it as them, but i can't find them on the parts list??

We got a big batch of what appear to be new outdrives this week, in the U.S. They need to be tested first, now that it has stopped raining. The good news is that they are visibly different than the old ones...finally. There's also a ton of Swift Pro parts in, but not the kits. New parts include bigger knuckle arms, 7075 suspension mounts, shock towers, etc. Part numbers, pictures, and more coming soon.

Woohoo! Good news. Please let us know when they're available to the general public.

anyone know of a backing plat non pull start that will fit the standard swift engine

hardened outdrives

years ago, when I was racing a mantua4 on-road car, the axles of the suspension bended every time upon impact, they were unhardened 3mm. cromed ones, so I heated them above the kitchen fire with a plyer, till they were red hot and dropped them in a bucket of cold water : they never bent or broke again ! :flaming: :whip:
wouldn't it be possible this is a simple solution for these unhardened outdrives ?

why not try this on half-worn items, and see !! (I ,still don't own a swift!)

and probably you will have a search warrant on your name, for inhuman cruelty to minorities of the material kind :hamster:

caution: when you do this to hardened items , they will soften ? I guess ? ..
