To all: Sorry for the delay on the response I'm in California right now, and will go straight to Vegas for the Nats. I will be back on monday. Enjoy the week and if there is any questions I will answer them when I get back.

WA2FAST: I think OFNA makes them, to be honest I can't remember where I got them it has been a while.

I think the champagne coloured parts look more serious and less flashy. Titanium coloured hard anodising would be even better!

Not sure if the purple anodising is now standard for all Swifts, or whether this is purely for a batch commissioned by Schumacher for the UK market, inline with the same purple/carbon fibre scheme used on the latest Schumacher Mi2 electric TC.

Can't comment on the castor as I don't have an older Swift model for direct comparison. I will post some close-up pictures of the top-arms if this helps.

Race Director,

Those look like the old upper arms to me. The ones we've been testing don't have that funky grooving in them. Here in the U.S., we will have them in stock at the end of May...at long last. The RTR will continue to be sold with old arms, and the new ones will be available as an upgrade. They will also be included with the Pro kit for this summer.

Off to Vegas!

I'd agree with ya niggle, Schumacher have used purple for a few years now on quite a few cars.

Did you choose the Swift because Cec (Schumacher) is the distributor?

It was a big decider for me I have to say, I've had a few Schumachers, going right back to the XLS lexan car in the 80's - all were good.

(Pity about the radio tho' :puke: )

Hello everyone.. I'm new to these forums, and I just got done reading like 15 pages of the first part of this thread.. :normal:

Anyway, I just bought a Swift last week!! I've been racing very competitively for years and years running all the big races ( which my best was winning the B-Main at the U.S. Indoor Championship in Cleveland in 2003 ) with all the high dollar 1/10 scale vehicles and I finally decided to get into 1/8 scale.. I was thinking about buying one of the high dollar cars, but when I saw the Swift I thought it was a great looking car.. ( LOOKS LIKE EXACT REPLICA OF THE MUGEN ) I decided to go with this car and see what it would do, and all I gotta say is its the best car for the money.. All though I did change the motor with a NovaRossi BX-21, the servos with digital Futaba's, the radio system, and went through the hole suspention set up I guess I could still call this a RTR.. Also lock tighted all the universals, motor mount screws, and all other metal to metal areas.. ( which it sounds like I'll have to re-do cause 1 I used the blue loc-tite, and 2 I used two screws for each pin when I put it all back together and everyone was saying to use only one ) Sounds like I have to re-do the diffs too from what everyone has been saying.. ( which I have NOT touched the diffs ) I have 4 tanks through it so far and I havn't run into any problems, but I've been just baby'in this beast to break in the motor..

I know the shocks on the car need to be redone, but I'm not sure what piston and spring combination to use.. I was gonna just run like 80 wt with the stock pistons, but I don't wanna blow the seals or blatters.. Plus the stock springs seem way to stiff.. If you all know of what works please let me know.. THANKS

Is there any way to tell if I have a old version car with the old junk outdrives?? Also the junk and unshimmed diff gears?? I'm gonna read the rest of these post in this thread, but any other help info would be great..

Thanks everyone and I'll be posting on here regularly to keep you all informed with what I find out about this car when I race it..

Peace

WARNING! Long boring post, probably only of interest to UK readers.

The backing from Schumacher ought to be good. ModelSport at Otley is convenient for me and they already stock Schumacher products.

We decided last year that 1:10 off-roaders are too fragile, so we eBay'ed the CEN and looked around for a "starter" 1:8 buggy.

We had already decided on the Rex-X without radio at £199, but decided to wait until late spring to actually buy one. In fact I bought in a set of Ergal steering knuckles in readiness to replace the low quality cast items on the Rex-X.

Then the Swift appeared for much less than £300 and it was obvious that this car was in a league above the Rex-X.

Yeah, great shame about the radio. It jitters like crazy, which is something that my Sanwa Dash Saber never did (also a bargain basement 27Mhz AM kit). Best price I could find without radio was £249, with radio was £269. We went for the with-radio option on the basis that at least we could do the break-in and have a play before deciding on which radio to go for.

At the moment I'm favouring the Hitec Aggressor CRX or Sanwa MX-3 (when it arrives in the UK). Both are 3-channel 40Mhz FM steerwheel sets. The Hitec has a dual conversion receiver but the receiver with the MX-3 is BEC-less and uses a Y harness to power the servos directly, it's also quite small and should leave room in the battery box for my failsafe and monster 5xAA battery pack.

I'd be happy with the Sanwa Gemini II stick set which is functionally equivalent to the MX-3, but I think my son might find a steerwheel easier to use.

I use stick and steerwheel. I use a 3VC stick and a 3PJ wheel. Steering is more controlled with the wheel but throttle is more controlled with the sticks.

My preference - steerwheel (but it took a couple of months to get there from sticks) mainly because of hand injury at work which rendered my left thumb & index finger near useless for over 6 months, 4 years later my thumb is only 60%ish

Ooops, I forgot to say that only Schumacher is getting the purple stuff. The Yanks get to stick with the (Victory) Champagne color. :)

I'm using GS pistons with 25-40 weight oil, depending on the conditions and temperature which shouldn't theoretically make a difference. Kyosho Blue springs are the ticket, or Mugen grays if you can't get the Kyoshos.

All the kits out there right now still have the sub-par outdrives...when the new one comes out, we'll have a little trade-in deal going (details still to be worked out).

What class did you race in at Cleveland, Gixer jay? I had a GSXR-750 as my first motorcycle, and I raced carpet for a few years, too. Off-road is a kick in the butt. You'll have a lot more fun with 1/8 than with a truck, I think...it really depends on the class.

Cammmmmmmmm

Read ur PM's please

Sup guys,
I just bought the prp starter. Is there a way to change the direction the wheel turns without having to set the bugggy up the other way. I hear that switching the + & - around may change the rotation but not sure.

Not sure Joe, I don't know if the motor can last OR anything to that effect. Maybe someone will be kind enough to help with an answer.
:sorry:
