Hey John too bad if i pissed on your parade, my response was to Massivex in direct response to his comments about the States handling of the situation, so get off your high horse, and have a molsen or moosehead and get over yourself. Canadians let any scum into the country, let them wander around uncontrolled. How many terrorists have crossed the border into the us from canada, I know of several, and I know there are plenty more that were not caught. Like you said the only reason no one messes with Canada is they don't want to cut off their bridge to the USA and we protect your asses. So I think a thank you is more in order as opposed to your tyrade. Have a nice day EH!
By the way John I don't have anything against Canadians in general. I have a good friend in Ontario. I do however have problems with your government policies, and stupid people be they canadians, or anyone else for that matter, who want to put down the US. Lets see someone else come up with a solution and stand up to assholes like the Iraqis and Koreans. No you all wait for us to save your asses while putting down the way we do it

We are the cops of the world, sometimes we play good cop, like we have been since Desert Storm. Then, when nesesary, we play bad cop, like Afganistan and soon Iraq again. I think our government as made some hard decisions in the past couple years, hard but good. I fully believe that what we are trying to accomplish, is whats best for the world, not just the US.

A classy response from a classy guy. You people this and You people that. In one breath you say you've got nothing against us, then you say we're all waiting for you to save our asses, and then we piss on you for it. Maybe you missed the part where i said I think the American military should go to Iraq and rule their asses. Hopefully others don't make the same mistake.

While bombs do kill indiscriminatly, the targets taken out had military significance. It is the act of cowards to hide and surround themselves with non-combatants in the case they get killed, their cause may go on with those remaining since so many non-combatants were killed.
In wars it is not uncommon for one side to make a military located inside a church or a hospital so that the other side can't, according to the Geneva Convention, attack. If the military target is hit the other side will say that the cowards hit a hospital or church and not a military target. If the church or hospital is not hit the side using the area in question will say that the cowards will not even attack a target. Either way, the way they see it, they win.
As for Osama, I expect you'll volunteer to fly to Afganistan and take out Osama personally as soon as you get your parents permission to leave your country.
Oh yeah, it's easy to talk about being a coward when people like me and those that came before us gave you the freedom to say what you feel!

It is called FOG OF WAR and it happens. When you have that many operations going on at once there is going to be friendly fire incodents plain and simple. What is truley sad is the way your government tryed to use that as a bargaining chip.. SICKNING. X

The States said they had the intentions to trowdown, Russia leaked a date back in November or so, Feburary 13 or 14th the States would attack, and THAT is when the States should have done the job (quickly as it would/will be) and eliminate the target for good. Now Powell is constantly playing media games and the States is trying to convince the world of something.
If your cause is truly just then you have no fear of reprecussion. The world will come to see your way is the right way. So I say go. HOWEVER, are there no Elite forces in all of the States, who are able to remove the man from power without the elaborate song and dance?

All right, to your corners. No need to sit here beating each other up. The bottome line is that everyone is entitled to their opinion. You don't have to like it, nor stereo-type a whole country because of it (except France...they deserve whatever slams you can send their way, just kidding).
We are the most powerful military power in the world. No one will deny that. Part of being the most powerful military in the world is having the most sophisticated and powerful arsenal in the world, and the will to use it. In order that we can do the most harm to the adversary and prevent loss of friendly lives, we will do as we always do. We will use that arsenal (bombs, missiles, and stand off weapons) to clear the path. We will then put troops ashore by the thousands, and let them clean up what is left (and believe me there will be plenty). Even with troops on the ground we will continue to use bombs and missiles to support them.
War is indeed ugly and people from all walks of life (innocent and otherwise) will die. That is the nature of war. The smart people recognize that a world of hurt is about to land in their backyard, and they leave (thus you get refugees).
If anyone doubts the US resolve, read the news. Look at the numbers. We have five carrier battlegroups (that is five air craft carriers, five air wings...like 350 aircraft, and about 30 assorted combatants) in striking distance of Bahgdad. That is just the US, and has not occurred since World War II. The coalition ships (to the tune of about 80-100 combatants) are located in the Indian Ocean. The military might that has been arrayed against Sadaam is both a threat and a deterrent. He has been given his marching orders. If he chooses to stay and fight, we will do what we have to.
For those who think this is about oil, you are about 5 percent right. Iraq serves the world about 3% of the total oil the world consumes. If we wanted it, we would have taken it in the original Gulf War. This war is about removing a psychopath leader from power and a position where he can threaten those in and around the Middle-East as well as here in the US. It also will give us an opportunity to fix what is broken over there for the people of Iraq. While we are there, if we claim a little oil for the trouble...then who in the world is going to argue against it.
Let me pose a hypothetical scenario. We being the US military decide to keep the leash on the big dogs. We pull back to a safe distance and let Sadaam complete whatever he is working on (nukes or biochemical weapons). We then (full knowing what is coming) sit back and watch as he unleashes the horror on his surrounding arab nations, or perhaps in the European arena, or god forbid he brings his madness to our doorstep like Osama and his nutjobs did. How much world support do you think we would then have? How many people does Sadaam have to maim, kill, or destroy before we say okay go get him and do whatever it takes to ensure that you have him? He has had nearly 12 years to get his poop squared away. Time is up.

Yes, I as well have reservations about some of my own goverments policys too, however, there are two ways to go here. 1. a full miltary lockdown no one comes, no one goes 2. or a policy that allows everyone a fair chance, American or "towel Head" (as someone else said earlier), at living in a democratic country where the won't be ruled by some S head like Saddam.

As for the Canadians that lost there lives in the bombing incident, I guarantee you the fellows flying those jets were reacting to what they perceived as a threat. It is really easy to sit on the sidelines and try and say that this should have happened or that should have happened. The bottom line is the the Rules Of Engagement state that any unit can act to preserve itself as an inherent right of self defense. That is what those flyers were doing. Now, if you can sit there and even begin to tell me that you think those flyers were all cheery and celebrating when they were told they just hit friendly forces...you had better pack your bags and get the hell out of dodge (or in this case Toronto). Those fellows were most likely thinking of that everyday from then on, dreaming of it, trying to figure out where the error was made. They almost certainly blame themselves in some way despite being told they did no wrong.
The most horrible moment for any military man is finding out that you just used deadly force and killed an ally or a friend. I am truly sorry, that Canadians lost their lives in that fashion, but someone mentioned the fog of war....this applies to everyone. When the metal starts flying, people start dying. If good guys are in the wrong place at the wrong time, or look like bad guys based on the best information at the time...then someone might pay the ultimate price and lose their lives.

I do not believe that you should not let people into your country. Look at it this way. What you should do at this time is be trying to help your neighbors the Americans. If someone has just escaped a terrible place with a dictator or someone that is trying to kill them or cause them harm. Those people should have no problem to be detained in a facility where they can be held safe from the people they are supposed to be running from until you verfiy they are who they say they are. That is not an outlandish propsistion I have made. Hold them for 15 days while you check them out. 15 days in Canada in a containment area is better than where they came from right.
Also I have been to canada as recent as summer before last. I was there over your independace day. I was blown away at the amount of RAG heads that where there. There were towels as far as the eye could see.. Well them and asians NO offense Ed. Anyway this was 2 months prior to *9-11 I told my friend from upstate NY that I was visiting "DAMN THERE IS A poop LOAD OF foreiners here" he laughed and said so are you. He was right but the thing was there was a poop load more people saying
"asa lama lakum" than "EH" It like I always say the only good things in Canada is beer and Strip Clubs...X

Massivex, you mentioned the "elite forces" in one of your posts. The problem with using the special forces in the manner which you described (assassination) is that it is illegal. There is a presidential resolution that was put in force a while back and it has not been lifted. We can not legally, by our own laws, assassinate the man. Removing him from the country (ie kidnapping) is also not a good solution. It still leaves his regime in power and whatever standing orders he has in place to be executed.
I just want to point out one thing...the nature with which this thread has been used to pit hobbyists from one country against another is just the sort of thing that the terrorists of the world want to accomplish. Instead of stereo-typing each other and casting aspersions around, perhaps we can recognize that we each are entitled to our opinions. Those opinions might not be popular with everyone, but they are by no means a reason to lambaste an entire country (except France
).
Massivex, doesn't like the idea of using an indescriminate weapon (bombs) in war fighting. Okay, that's his opinion. X wants to use the nuke 'em all sort it out a half a million years from now approach. Fine that's his opinion. You guys want to start a major dispute in a forum devoted to getting people together with common interests, great. That is your option, but again I remind you that this kind of backbiting is what the terrorists want.
If we tear each other apart, we become a force multiplier for them. They don't even have to lift a finger as we self destruct. Is this forum going to be ground zero for the end of the world as we know it? NO. But the attitudes that we start here, are the prejudices of tomorrow, and can grow into the hatreds of the next generation. Because, I guarantee you if it is in such a small venue as this forum, it is out there in the world in larger doses and growing. Don't add to it.
Watch the news. Keep alert to the growing threats of terrorism. Voice you opinions and be heard. When the world of hurt that is stacked up against Sadaam gets unleashed, you can all sit back in the comfort of your homes in relative safety as guys like me and my brothers in arms go out and stomp the snot out of those that deserve it.

Again, very eloquent Sky. Normally I just sit back and read these threads, interjecting the odd comment when I feel I've got something worthwhile to contribute. I'm sure you can't blame me for standing up for what I believe in when I felt NC insulted my country.
I think you summed it all up when you wrote "When the metal starts flying, people start dying." No person in their right mind should take pleasure in that. Anyone who does should seek medical help. I just pray that when the metal starts flying this time, the loss of life is minimal, on ANY side.
And by the way NCNitro, I don't drink any beer other than Budweiser, brewed right here in the good old red and white by Labatt's.

So what is the difference in what I did when Massivex insulted my country, by me standing up to him? As you did by standing up to me when you felt I insulted yours, which I did in response to massivex post. There have been alot of generalizations, and opinions stated in this thread, and yet you are still hung up on my post. Try reading Skys post again (Great btw Sky) and just get over it. I have said all I have to say to you on this matter.

Bottom line is this:
The U.S. has the balls to do what nobody else wants to do. Deep down, everyone wants a regime change in Iraq. If not, I suggest you go live there for a couple weeks. Then, you will be on the same page.
I could care less if anyone is against us. Period. There have been MANY of times that we were scolded for taking matters into our own hands, yet, after the action was taken, we were thanked over and over again. This will be no different. Just look at the dealings with Hitler, and who was against it then.
My biggest concern is the anti-American sentiment from Americans. If you hate this country so much then get the hell out. You're not welcome.
If you're not an American and hate our actions, well, I guess you would have to be an American Patriot to understand. This is one of the only times I use ignorance as a legit excuse.
Lastly, as human nature dictates, most people are followers. If a countries leader opposes something, MOST, will oppose it as well. For the countries not backing us, leadership is to blame.
Its a shame more people can't think for themselves. If they could, they would see beyond the political tape and realize that Sadam HAS TO GO, if only for the humanitarian reasons. And if you dont, then maybe you should have your wife raped in front of you, your children shot in front of you and told everything you can and cannot do. Then MAYBE you just might agree. This is the Iraqi way.

ALL of my comments here are based on the beilef that we are all humans. Some are good and some are bad. The location you live does not dictate which you are.
Therefore I can say that it is possible that some poeple over there could possibly be as good as each of our own mothers. I dont konw how everybody else feels, but I would hope for better for my mother. You can't kill them all!
SKY about the pilots who bombed Canadians......I probally would have reacted the same way they did under those circumstances. I think you said it straight. The idea that those pilots were happy is about absured as the idea that Canada was as happy to have it as a "Barganing Chip" (for what I still can't figure). The truth of the mater is that in pointing the finger of blame we're losing the opertunity to really focus on improving the systems that failed us. Instead, because of our Govt.s continued playing to public pressure, all we're likely going to get is the ruination of two military carrers and lives, all because of the need for scapegoats to satisfy the media.
X-789 - what are you going to learn in 15 days? That you can amass more paperwork than you can handle! As far as helping my neighbours go, my neighbours are huemans. I will help the good ones, which brings me to my final comments for this thread. X-789, You are a narrowminded, ignorant, bigot, racist! You'll go as far as insulting your own friends and appologizing in the same sentence ("There were towels as far as the eye could see.. Well them and asians NO offense Ed"). Your posts make me nautious! Therefore I refuse to read them anymore so don't waste time replying. And " I can't wait till Sky gets home".......What are you, 3? Why don't you go tell mommy I ****ed with your pride you lame ass panty waste!

Thanks to everyone who recognizes a persons right to an opinion (even X-789's) and to those who have made valid points without resorting to senseless racism.

This is probably the most true sentiment in this whole thread. So keeping in mind I came here for RC, I say good by to General Chaos and I look forward to chatting with the sensible in T-Maxx Talk.
