I've had tyres start to dry rot and crack while still on the shelf, before they even get used. Or even tyres that are used that crack before they wear out.

All my RC's are storage on a block so that the wheels have no weight on them.
All my tyres and RC"s are stored in a shed which is not the best conditions but thats how it is.

Have you guys got any suggestions to prolong their life?

Eg, store tyres in a sealed bag ? Use a rubber protector product?
Is it the extreme temps of shed life?
I'm hesitated to use automotive products as I don't want to damage the rubber.

Liquid wrench penetrating spray.

Spray it onto clean, dry tires. Let it soak in for an hour, then blow off with compressed air. Ready to rock.

If it’s cold outside, or they’re already in rough shape, then do the same, but toss them into a plastic bag after applying the LW, seal bag, and allow to sit in the sun for a few hours, then remove, and blow off with compressed air.

Been maintaining tires this way for decades. Not to say I have tires that are 25yrs old/but I’ve been maintaining ALL tires I run this way for the past 35+ years. My tires always work, and I have NEVER had any dry rot, or go bad from sitting. I’ve also softened up garbage tires that came out of their package in terrible shape.

Hope that helps ya bud. 🤘

Thanks for the info. But wow it's expensive. Is it liquid gold?

Holy jeeeeezus man… That’s bananas.. it’s like $13 here lol.. FWIW-the blue/white label can is the formula you want. Not sure what equivalent you have down there that’s not outrageously priced..

Pardon the mess-I’m mid-reorganization in the RC Dungeon atm.. Between the Super Lube, and the DuPont..

It’s cheap here… Possibly due to no air transport requirement? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Even on Amazon, it’s only $13.99, and free shipping..

I will say this-not all “tire rejuvenation serum’s” 😅🤷🏻‍♂️, are created equal.. I’ve used just about everything you can imagine, and it’s not just as simple as “petroleum based, so this will work”…

It's not readily available here. $60 to import it from the US on ebay.

WD40 or CRC 5.56 is available everywhere here. Would you consider them as a equivalent?

Yeah-that’s what I figured you were doing.. Crazy it costs what it does in order to make it happen though..

WD-40 DOES make rubber RC off-road tires SOFTER, though I’m not exactly sure WHY.. I suspect that it’s the SOLVENT portion of the mix that makes it WD-40.. The “W D” stands for “Water Displacement”… So take that for what it’s worth.. Just because it DOES make the rubber softer, does not necessarily mean it’s doing what you want in the long run.. Hell-my LW may very well be doing the same thing, but I can tell you I’ve never completely melted a set using it like I have with WD..

While I am familiar with a LOT of the CRC lineup; I’ve not got any experience with the product you mentioned-so I can’t speak on it one way or another.. You may just have to do some experimenting.. That’s what I did to find my goto in the LW blue label.. 😉

Holy COW man… Maybe it’s time to cook up some bacon, save the grease, and just give that a try.. 🤷🏻‍♂️😅
It's an expensive hobby over here.

I wonder if this would work.

I would use that for sure. Most likely an equivalent to PB Blaster. If it smells scanky, that be the one.
The Liquid Wrench Lubrication, or Penetrating stuff both are used in "secret sauces" tire softening recipes.

Weird. I've had tires sit for years in my shed (below freezing in winter and 35+ in summer) and while they probably aren't quite like new after that, they were all still in one piece and perfectly serviceable.

Maybe take 'em off and store in a sealed bag in the house?

I was wondering if thats a thing. Is anyone doing this? Does it make a difference as some of the more expensive brands do come in resealable bags.

You could test with humidity packs in mason jars. I store ....ummmmm herbs like this and they work great for that purpose. 😎
