I have some 23mm hub adapters that I got off of a truck that I bought.

When I took the small nut off (I tried to take the whole thing off because I didn't have a wrench for the 23mm sized nut.) there was a washer on 3 of the 4 adapters between the small standard nut and the large part of the adapter.

My questions are :

1. What all comes with 23mm adapters?
2. Are the washer necessary??
3. What is the cheapest and best way to get a wrench for these size adapters??

Thanks,
adrian

Good luck finding an adapter. You can get a 22mm one and shove some tin foil in ther to give bite. As far as the washers, they might have been placed there to give it a wider stance or to eliminate play.

What truck are the adapters off of? My savage adapters didn't come with any washers. To take them off I've been using a 12 point 15/16th socket.

you can buy a 23mm socket and stuff some paper towel in it and do it that way and the washers are for no slop on the axle

Ok, gotcha.
Well, I guess i am 1 washer short of a set.
haha
The adapters came off of a Revo, but were never really run, just installed. The tires were the 40 bowties, and the rims were the 40 series yellow velocities.

I am putting them on one of my MGTs.

thanks,
adrian

Did you mean to say 24 mm??

My bad... 24mm

Harbor Freight. Cheapest place to get a 23mm socket even though you have to buy the set.

Go to your local pepboys or kragens, they carry a single 23mm socket, and also get a 1/2" to 3/8 in drive adapter.

Thanks for all the suggestions.. I got a socket set (I really needed one anyway) from Lowe's. I had to buy the 1/2" to 3/8" adapter and the 23mm socket seperate.

I still don't understand what the washers that come with it are for. I was told spacing.. but spacing for what??

Spacing.. I am thinking to prevent any rubbing or to extend the the length of the wheelbase.

Some axles are not threaded far enough down for the old wheel nut to seat on the adapter when installed. That causes a number of problems.
1. Wheel wobble
2. Wheel nuts falling off
3. pins falling out
If you put the adapter on and tighten the old wheel nut and the adapter has play you have to add the shims or washers.

The washers are for spacing the adapters. The Savage ones don't come with any but for the Revo and others there should be 4 of those washers on each corner. Without them the adapters will have allot of slop and play in them. I had them on an LST, Savage, and Revo and the Savage kit was the only one that Proline said didn't need the washers.
