Problems w/ 13T Bevel Gear ( # 86031)

Myself & another member are constantly tearing off teeth from the 13 Tooth Bevel Gear (Part # 86031). I have already gone through two (in one week) & my friend has tore off one.
Here is a pic of the stock gear:

Has anyone else experienced this problem & how did you fix it?

Don't buy anymore of those two colored pinion gears. Only get the all black gears which are harder than the older ones. Also check your bearings to make sure that they aren't allowing excess movement of the ring gear. Also check the ring gear to make sure that the center of it where the output shaft rides isn't too worn allowing excess movement as well. Also check your gear box to make sure that it's gripping the bearings securely. Just look at all the areas that contribute to holding the gears in place. I personally am replacing the stock diff cups with alloy cups and the plastic gear boxes with megatech alloy boxes to further reduce the chances of destroying gears in the diffs.

i had a similar prob i found that it was the 42t outer diff gear was worn

How long did that take for your 42 tooth to wear? Both Savages that Digital Liquid is referring too have less than 6 qts. max. Faulty gears or too much POWER!

I got it from tower recently however any volume lhs should already have the new stock. I've also shimmed my diff outputs to eliminate excess play on the ring side to help keep the mesh constant.

Here is a pic of the third one to bite the dust. I just can't keep these things from breaking. This one has 4 teeth missing from one side & 2 from the other side. You can see some of the teeth laying below it.

I just put in a new one, but if this one doesn't last then I am going to try another brand of bevel tooth. I just purchased two 13T that go to the Kyosho Inferno MP-7.5 Kanai Edition III. I did put the Kyosho 13T in the diff case & it seemed to fit fine & didn't have any problems. However, I'm going to give my last stock HPI 13T, one last try. So if this last stock one does not hold up, then I'm going to try one of these Kyosho.

Their diameters are the same, yet the Kyosho is a little shorter than the HPI.

The main difference b/t the two is that the HPI has the grub screw that goes all the way through the shaft, and the Kyosho simply has a flat spot for the grub screw to lock onto. I doubt that this will be a problem.

So I will see how this last stock HPI holds up, then I will try this Kyosho.

Or, you could attempt to drill a hole through it... heat it up with a torch, drill a hole, heat it up red hot again, drop it in some oil to harden her back up.
