Anyone know how to remedy this or should I just ignore it and run it?
It's the stock mach 26SS engine in my Aftershock. Not a great high dollar engine, but one would think it would still function. I broke it in without doing anything to it. Then I noticed it was leaking all around the base of the backplate, so I cleaned it and siliconed it. No more leaking there. Then I noticed it leaking around the carb neck, again, cleaned and siliconed.
Now, it's leaking around the throttle barrel bad enough to get out past the protective boot and make a mess out of the LSN and side of the engine. I'd understand a drop or two, but this is nuts. Every time I run it, I have to clean up a mess. Besides, if it's leaking that bad, it has to be affecting the tune. It does like to run hot (250-265 avg). If I tune it richer, it runs like a dog and loads up then dies in a matter of a few seconds. If I go any leaner, it looses power and temps will hit 300F, did that once.
Any suggestions? Or just deal with the mess until the engine dies?
I have an axial 28 that is hardly broken in sitting and waiting... I'm just afraid it will be too much for the AS axles and I don't want to deal with that. At some point, the axial is going in.
Anyone know if a carb that will fit the 26SS? Again, I know it's pretty much a throw away engine, but if I can find something better on eBay, it might be worth a little bit of $ to fix it.
Thanks.
