I’ve been in and out of this hobby since 2002 or so and I’ve never in all that time owned a Tamiya. Well today I built my first Tamiya kit, m05ra. I added ball bearings and Yeah racing shocks and a Losi 12t motor. I have already ordered the V2 chassis with the square battery compartment, but I couldn’t stand looking at the box anymore! 😂 went together in just a few hours and low and behold I couldn’t wait for the body to dry either before taking it out. I wanted to get the XV01 but I’m a little concerned about parts support. The Front wheel drive gave me a lot of doubts and I’ve never been a fan of the plastic Tamiya uses, but after taking it out I can say it’s a lot more capable than I expected! Going to order a better diff to put in when the v2 chassis comes since I have to pull it apart anyway. Pretty fun car, I’d guess it’s going about 25mph in the current set up

I finally mustered up enough patience to finish the Citroen body for my first Tamiya build, I haven't painted a body since 2006 or so. Loosely inspired by this example.
That thing is so cool! I have the yellow and black 2CV that Tamiya used to sell. I didn't do nearly as good a job with the body as you did though.

Thank you! I had a better paint scheme in mind, but once I started masking it I didn't want to do it anymore 😂 the stickers were my least favorite part of the whole build, but they do really help with the overall look I think, at least the trim does. The rear fenders are the ugliest part but I think I'd have to add some kind of wheel wells if I wanted to cut them out because there is nothing but dead space back there. I might have to pick up another Tamiya kit soon

I really struggle with decals, I'm terrible at them. It took me hours to put on the decals that came with my 2CV. I really hate that you have to cut out the Tamiya decals.

I imagine some people love it, I'm just not a huge fan of tedious work like that. Soapy water definitely helps!
