This actually started out as a savage 25, that I got off eBay (nothing but a box of unassenbled stuff), now the only thing not savage x is the upper shock mounts....never mind it's and X....now

Just got it...

Just picked this up the other day, used from my local RC Shop and I have been looking all over to see which year/model this one might be, any leads would be appreciated. I have found a few manuals for ones like it, but what is throwing me is I have not seen that body anywhere else.

Had a bad glow plug, throttle servo and needed a little TLC. Now the spur gear is giving me trouble...meh...I will get it going again

Judgeing from the wheels and body it's a 2011-2012 X #105644.

2011 is also the first year HPI switched over to orange anodize aluminum chassis parts, grey cooling, 29/9 sintered ring and pinion and single big bore shock st up.

Those are all tell tale sings that ur truck is a 2011-2012 spec X.

My freshly built Savage xs ss kit. My first kit!! Proline sand paws, Plastidip painted body, Castle sct esc/3800kv motor FS GT3B Pinion gear fell off on 2nd (beach) run. Easy fix though! can't wait to do more bashing!!!

Is there any difference between the 2011/2012 and 2013 model except for the new body design?

2011-2012 is the exaxt same truck, same part number and everything. 2013 X has the composite bulks from the Flux and thicker turnbuckles and rod ends also carried over from the Flux. Same body with different color scheme for 2013. The F4.6 is still the same grey head version but the starter system has been updated from the Roto Start 2 to the current Nitro Start. The only difference their besides the starter units them selves is the back plate. The '13 X has a spring and pin on the crank that locks into one way shaft in the back plate, the back plate has like an internal OWB (at least I think its internal) while the '11-'12 X uses the standard back plate and regular OWB like a pull start engine. The two different back plate set ups aren't compatable with each other.

It's all good man! U can get the upgraded bulks and turnbuckles on ebay for cheap and ur truck will be up to current '13 specs. And forget about that new roto system, I'll take a pull start Picco any day!!!

The new parts are better imo but since ur truck is new it might not really be necessary.
