Looks good. Keep us updated. Do i spy a sway bar on the front end? I tried to find those a while back, they're discontinued I think.

Just guessing, but are those the 5B front shocks?

You're correct.

Yes, they are the Blue Groove sway bars, and they are still making them for the Savage.

I had thought about doing 5b shocks before I did the LST mod...those look good.

Thanks man.

Yeah they do look a little small but they're actuall the same size as the stockers. Not as wide though. Thanx

Like your rides and your vids! Great effects and angles too...

Now that I have a savage again...
HB Extended chassis
3-speed
XTM24.7
Dual Fiber Brakes
Hot Racing diff cases
XL Diff Ring/pinion/cup/internals (axle cups are old savage to fit in the alloy cases)

Will have a 125cc OFNA buggy tank mounted before the weekend is over. Tired of banging my knuckles on the stock tank. Also tired of the uniflow mod oozing fuel into my pipe...

Olds where and what kind of tires are those

Traxxas 2.5 Maxx Chevrons on painted t-maxx satin wheels.

I run them on both my aftershock and savage. Good bashing tires for grass/concrete mix. Suck in the dirt though... but I have wheels/tires for those days, if they ever come around again.

Thinking about changing over to RPM wheels. I've cracked 3 or 4 between my aftershock and savage already last season... Never had that issue running my old revo and t-maxx... guess I"m getting a bit more air these days.

yep, ofna pretty dang cleaver, put those on for my son, gives it a little wider stance, and less roll over, he likes to do 180 slides for some reason.

Wonder if XTM's version are bigger than the OFNA's:

They used to run them on the first XTM Mammoth's.

Appears that they have a lot more sidewall than the OFNA's which may be more prone to roll overs. Kind of like the original savage tires. Good all around tire, but makes it a bit floaty and unpredictable at high speeds.

Found that out when I ran the savage tires on my aftershock. Probably would have been fine with stock gearing and the stock engine, but with +3 pinion (and gear flip +1) along with an LRP28, it got downright frightening at top speed or even getting to top speed. Like driving a drunk snake!

These are much more predictable. Less flashy and far less grabby, but works well for me:

I know it's not a savage... but the first one is at least savage tires. ;)

Here is my SavageX. Pretty much stock, waiting on a Axial .32 from ebay.

Heres my new brusless project. Ok here goes the rundown of what I bought. This used to be a Savage X SS. I bought HPI XL chassis, motor plate and drive shafts. HPI XL dogbones, extended axles and diff outdrives. Integy aluminum, ballbearing bellcrank. Kershaw Designs motor mount. Mamaba Monster Max. Associated XP digital coreless ball bearing servo's. Two E-fuel Hobbies 3S lipo batteries in series 6S power. Pure-tech products velcro straps to hold batts. Dubro rod ends with an Ofna slider kit to take some slack out of the brake. Cen Genesis wheels/tires with Dynamite 23mm hex adapters. Progressive springs. I cut down the original purple motor plate and added it in behind the XL plate to give me a nice flat area to fit the batteries. The esc mount I bent up with some .50 aluminum and drilled it to fit where the roll bar used to be. I'm using velcro and a big zip tie to hold it on right now, but Traxxas has a really cool hold down on their Revo that I'm thinking about using when its released. Proline F650 body. The KD motor plate had to be drilled and ground down a bit on one side to fit right. I'm still running the 6 volt hump pack to power the steering and braking and an Ofna failsafe. Maybe it'll give me a little more run time. I removed the red wire out of MMM BEC J-connector. I'm using a Futaba 3pm radio and Futaba 153 reciever. Throttle is controlled by the second channel as you know, but I slaved the brake on the third channel to the master 2nd channel then turned off the throttle side of the 3rd channel so it doesn't move when I hit the throttle. Thats the PMX settings on your radio if this is confusing. I then programmed my braking trim to a thumb button on my radio. I'll probably use the BEC wire to run a heatsink fan. I would have used Traxxas connectors all around, but the batteries already had deans on them and it was just easier. I'm not sure how fast it will go. Any body running a similar combo could give me some good estimate guesses. I'm running the 2-speed tranny right now with a 47t spur and 13t pinion, with 7.5" tires that grow to about 9" or 10". I'm thinking I'll need a smaller pinion, but I'm holding off untill HPI releases their new tranny and KD also has a one-speed tranny that I know nothing about. I just bought some of the new body pin straps for the HPI Baja 5T to hold down the body. The esc mount isnt to hard to make if you have a nice bender and radius blocks. It took me about 5 tries to get the width just right to go around the TVP'S. I also used the RPM center skid plate thats a little to short, but RPM doesn't have one for an XL yet. I might extend it myself with a piece of aluminum.

some pictures of my new body for my savage 25. I was being talked to by my landlord and was distracted i forgot to put the masks on the windows until after a few coats of Candy Red. But it turned out ok for my first body.
