Posi Rear Diff

Run Heavier grease or that sticky lube in your diff and putt a spool on your front end not the rear if you need more traction....careful what you wish for cause those changes will make your truck drift more....the rear should never be locked cause you get a real crappy turn radius forcing you to drift around corners which can cause rollovers if your set up for jumping........if you lock the front end you still loose a little of the turn radius but on dirt it's not much and it will actually help pull you around corners......just play with different putty in the rear diff before you spend cash on those high dollar upgrades...I run stock traxxas diffs w/ alum cups and bulkless kits (weel I will be again soon)

I have one of these I want to put in the rear, and leave the stock equip. in the front for now. I have a RRP FOC, and 1st gear. Traxxas 18T CB, and stock spur gear. Dynomyte CVD all around. Do you think this is sufficient for a bigger engine. I am wanting an OS .18, but as always lokking at a .21 conversion.

If you put the Spool in the rear you can't drive on the street for one cause your turning radius will be about 5 times larger than before.....and if you try and muscle your truck through turns like that it will tear up your drivetrain......the ONLY time these will give you an advaantage is on the straight runs.....if you put the spool in the front it will drive way better and give you more handling control in corners.....kind of like the buggies...you run a heavier diff fluid in the front than in the rear so it stays more like a posi longer before it slips....this gives you the ability to pull out of a turn rather than push.....Pushing causes fishtail easier and makes you loose control on higher speed turns......if you really want a posi rear be my guest but no posts about OOHHH my diffs are trashed ....why?.....I speak of this from experience

When you go to a bigger mill you will need a stronger drive train I usually just replace stuff as it fails......just shim your diffs really good and get the RRP or Strobe slipper spur gear when you upgrade the engine....those are pretty standard upgrades though...and if you haven't yet get a hi torque Metal geared servo of your liking and budget...I'm going w/ the JR digital servos from now on.....

I'll probably just skip the spool all together then.

It really makes a difference in the front....it's not a bad upgrade it's just people always think they should put it in the rear....we aren't racing 1/4 mile here we want turning....if you drive alot on the raod then don't do it...cause it will deffinately turn weird......but if you're all about off road it rocks.....and one other thing you should look at for upgrades is the RPM arms , knuckles & towers....lifetime warranty if you break em......BTW those spools are the same part for front and rear...

I'll think about it for the front. I drive on pavement about half, but it's not a parking lot. It's more like thru the street from one yard to the next. How is the spool in the front for rock climbing?

Better pull on flat but I would think you'd want slip for rock climbing, no?
I just like to go fast and jump stupid stuff when I can I don't do much Rock crawling....

Me either. A couple times a year I go out to a friends house, and he has a big pile of rocks somewhere between a softball, and a bowling ball size. It is pretty fun, but it seems to be pretty hard an clutches.
