hey guys.. I'm very new to this but picking it up very quickly.. just can't get the tuning right.. i think.. I've set it back to factory settings a number of times and started again but i can't get it to idle and it stops everytime i brake.. the gap in the carby is definatly 1mm (or bigger) and my acceleration is sluggish if i throttle to hard.. its fine if i ease in to it..even wen i get it to a good speed if i try WOT it stutters.. just seems eveytime my trigger is down all the way its sluggish.. Any suggestions.. to me its my bad tuning skills so should i just keep trying till i get it right of cld there be someting else I'm missing.. thanks in advance :)

ur idle is to low. when your brakes are applied its closing the carb to much. also depending on what the vehicle does on acceleration will determine weather its rich or lean. if the car bogs down on acceleration it is most likely rich on the low end.make sure there is plenty of smoke comming from the engine. by the sounds of it you are rich all the way around. tune the top end and then the bottom end. (top end tunes throughout the whole throttle spectrum, low end only tunes the bottom 1/4)

As far as the engine dying when you hit the brakes. Take your filter off, turn your reciever and transmitter on and look at the gap at neutral and then hit the brakes. if you see the throttle close more, then you need to adjust your throttle linkage so that the carb slide doesn't move when you hit the brakes.

It also sounds like your LSN is a little rich if it's sluggish when you pull it too quick. and if it "stutters" at WOT then your most likely too lean on the HSN.
Hope that helps!

Tuning is frustrating if you can't at least idle. Work on that first, make sure the carb is not closing when you brake. Adjust it so that it stops against the idle screw if it is closing(make sure the trim is turned down). Then if you're at factory needle settings usually you will lean it just a tad but on my engine I just put in last week,I had to actually richen it a lot from the factory setting. If one way doesn't work, try the other.
Do you have a temp gun? Watching temps helps a lot with tuning.

thanks guys ill go try again... and again... and again till i get it right.. so by all the replys it sounds like it is my crappy tuning skills :(

yeah its broken in.. now i can get it to idle reasonably well but as soon as i accelorate it dies straight away..?? stupid tuning.. oh well ill get there

Sounds like you need to richen your Lsn and tinker your throttle screw a little?

more tuning probs

ok i got it to idle extremly well.. low revs without stalling even wen brakes applied.. now every time i apply throttle it stalls instantly.. i just can't win.. any suggestions..? cause how can i start to tune it if it just stops..?? will setting the HSN and LSN ruin my idle if i dont touch the idle screw..??

the idle screw adjusts the minimum amount of throttle that can be applied. does the car just plain die, or does it bog down and die, when throttle is applied?

actually, The idle screw adjusts idle speed and LSN adjusts Idle fuel mixture and THROTTLE RESPONSE. The HSN will make changes accross the board. Even a little at idle.

how old is motor and carb.
I had something like this happen to me . I chased a tune until i was ready to toss truck in trash........
come to find out i had a bad carb.
