I started the break in procedure as per HPI on my XL. I was only able to do 2 tankfulls due to the rain. I had to send back the engine due to the carb being defective and they ran 1 tank after they fixed it. Here's what I used for the break-in. Traxxas top fuel 20% was used and the temp was under 200. You can also see how much oil is in the fuel.

I have heard from a few people the best break in is to drive it around starting out slow and working your way faster each tank.

I plan on it when the weather agrees with me. I live in the northeast and man it's been raining for like 2 weeks or i'm stuck at work. I'm already past the groove mark on the HSN and it still under 200. I'll be taking the next two tanks easy but more lean as i go.

Traxxs fuel blows and your much better off driving it thats not a good way to break in an engine.:D

Just following the given directions since the 5.9 is such a turd. This way if it does blow up heaven for bid, I can get a new engine. In my early days when I had my Tmaxx 1.5 I did not follow break in and that motor is still original and running 10 years later. I really don't think break in procedure matters anymore with some motors because I have engines that are about 10 years old(OS12 cvrx,GS B01,traxxas .15) and they still run today.

I found a 1.5 at the tip yesterday wil take it apart and post pics pretty siezed atm
