Please...words of encouragement...to keep me holding on.

So here's the deal...i started in this hobby with $100 in my pocket...and of coarse ebay as my freind...i've had a rusty for about 3 months and i've have only managed to to run 3 tanks (not including the carefull break in). PLease tell me ya'll get more riding time than this...everytime i seem to get to a half a tank something seems to break on it's own...i don't bash at all...either a screw gets loose...or falls off...or the car stops turning...and a dang spur gear melts or a servo goes out. maybe i made a mistake when i bought a used rusty...i think after i fix this this last part i will sell it and get a brand new car...just want something to cruise around in grass and road without something screwing up thats all i ask! is there hope.......

Not shure what a rusty is, but I feel your pain. My first t-maxx was like that. It broke when I looked at it wrong. I spent tons of loot on it, and finally had something "kinda" reliable but always ran like poop. (note to self, only run traxass fuel in traxass engines). I THEN discover the real place buy rc car stuff (EBAY is not your friend when it comes to gettin a cheap pumped up t-maxx) I paid $350 for my last one BUILT! I robbed parts off of my first t-maxx (that was hella cursed), and I have something that will run for hours be abused to hell with little to no complaints. If I have any advice for somebody getting into this hobby is to either suck it up and buy new, or buy a used one that has the hopups already installed on it, and isnt beat to death. There is evils of buying both ways, and only experience will learn ya right. Save up some more coin, and buy a new one, or one in better condition than yours, with more hopups, use your old one for parts. OR you can do like I did, and buy a high end team edition buggy :P That was hella schweet!!

Oh, I have 8 cars and trucks now :P

There's hope, believe me. I started out with a new RS4 3 SS. It took me a whole 3 weeks to get that friggin' 12R SS to start. I was sooooo pissed i was ready to give up before i even heard a nitro engine run! When that faithful day finally came, it savaed my life. That stubborn 12R SS fired up and it was music to my ears. Although this peace didn't last too long it was great. Up until spring parts would break left and right, probably because of the cold, and I almost threw my RS4 into the woods and would leave it there, good thing I didn't. Since the warmth came I have not spent a whole hour without wanting to run/buy stuff for/fix my nitros. I now have three and am having a great time. It takes a little while to learn about nitro, and the kits, but believe me, its worth it.

SO i guess buying new is the way to go...by rusty i meant nitro rustler. hop-ups include...
Alloy upper chassis, alloy front and rear shock towers new blue front and rear suspension arms...new servo's alloy front bumper last but not least brand new o.s. .15 cv-r
....now you see my frustration...after all this i have only had about 15 solid minutes of enjoyment...i guess i will give it one last try i have a metal spur gear on it's way...if anything else goes out it will be up for sale very soon...and 1/8 buggy here we come...

i heard they are durable and are not susceptible to random parts failure.....

get a buggy and then dont worry about any of that kind of crap ever again.

jerry take your time.Put your rusty on the kitchen table (make room)take out every screw that is metal to metal and loctite them.any screw that goes in to plastic put a dab of super glue on them..and i mean every screw..
And don't give up..if your mill is still running and your servos still work your good..OH and do your self a favor and spend the money to up grade your servos..if you haven't allready..

Lets just say that in the jumping contest I had between my buddies best attempt with the tmaxx "trying" to clear the ditch at end of the road, and my minimal effort clearing not oonly the ditch, but the road behind the ditch too, landing into the top of an 8 foot tall chain link fence with my mugen MBX 4...... Ya, id say buggies ROCK!!

A non-used up toy is also a good way to go, but I take my chances with motors that have been broken in already. I have enuff of a hard time gettin my poop to run, let alone deal with them being tempermental while being broken in. Otherwise breaking poop is all part of the game, just buy lots of spares, and get good/fast at fixing your poop

ya there you go brother from a nother mother...don't give up just stride for the best you can do..it will come around sooner than later

if you're rustler has so many problems you're doing something wrong for sure...mine runs like a charm everytime i drive it. a slong as you're not blasting it over huge jumps it should work perfect;y for you. i used to hate mine because eeverytime i'd run it, i would break something. i then realized that it's more fun running my rustler when it's slammed with street tires and stuff on the street. i now use my buggy for the more extreme stuff.

you can pm or I'm me if you have any quetsions about your rustler...

Not just buggys can fly, I cleared a sand pile taller than that, and landed on the flat after it( missed the backside), and wheelied away, with a 1st gen T. Then hit it about a dozen more times more and went home with major wood. The only mods were alum shocks( crappy cheap ones, 30$ for 8 b/n) and a mega junk .16. Sometimes it takes a while, but the payoff is worth it. BTW, unless you know what your buying, stick with new, keeps the blood pressure down.
