please watch a video I uploaded on youtube. what might be the problem?

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9l2z9tMb0w"]YouTube- please help me to fix my nitro rc[/ame]

as you can see in the video car works fine when antena is in. When i take it out it starts to apply brakes when i give it some gas. Any thoughts?

Nevermind.

I don't think I've ever seen that happen. Are all of you batteries charged? Connections good, antenna screwed in tight? Try pulling the tx case apart and make sure everything is connected correctly on the innerds.

yeah I checked everything.

Is that a basic RTR AM or FM Tx? Maybe borrow a pal's unit and put your x-tal in it and see what happens?

Or if that is a standard thread-in telescoping antenna try another antenna in your Tx.

+1 on making sure all bats are up to the task with good voltage, no leaks, not in backwards. etc.

HTH...

Wow. That is a strange problem. Could be interference? Have you tried reversing the throttle channel on the radio? If you try that....does it work properly with the antenna extended. I wouldn't worry too much about what it does with the antenna down...you should NEVER run your car like that. So as long as it performs correctly with the antenna up without glitching....you should be good to go.

The only thing I can really blame this on is a screwed up signal between the TX and the RX....possibly due to the antenna being inside the radio before you extend it.

I'd just replace the tx/rx. That type of problem can't be trusted. Something could be shorting inside the tx. The new Traxxas link system would be a good entry level 2.4 setup and wouldn't break the bank. You could use it for multiple rigs as well. Just add a rx to the vehicle and bind.

Does it do it when your transmitter is a bit further away from the car?

I know my old FM/AM systems use to cause a hell of a lot of twitching and whatnot when I had the remote too close to the vehicle. Usually also only noticed indoors.

i think your throttle servo is reversed

Watch the video again.

I thought about that too. I get some funny twitching, but never a reversed servo from extending the antenna.:\

Wow, that is a head-scratcher for sure! Damndest thing I've ever seen!

I wonder, does it do the same thing with the steering servo? If it does, my guess would be your RX is the culprit.

Have either the RX or TX gotten wet?

It could also very well be a power issue. Maybe swap the batteries in your TX and RX and see what happens.

That's all I have right now, but I'll mull it over and if something comes to mind, I'll be sure to pass it along.

The only thing I could think of is for the AM band the receiver wires have to be roughly 4 times less than the frequency, and the transmitter antenna when down could be reversing the signal. This is why they say always run model with TX fully extended and never shorten the RX receiver wire.

I would just get a new TX/RX as I would always be worried that something could happen. I recently purchased a Airtonics MX Sport from Amain it has a 10 model memory and is only $99.00 with extra RX's around $65.00 as I run 3 different cars and was sick of going for a bash to realise I brought the wrong TX :-D Just something to consider if you have more than one kit.

Jmacca, that's the Tx I'm thinking of getting to ditch all my AM stuff. How do you like it?
