I have an HPI baja 5sc which is pretty stock except a few performance upgrades. I'm also running the stock radio gear and servos because they've worked very well for me. In the next couple of weeks I plan on upgrading my current battery(Venom 5000mah hump pack) to one of these:

http://www.killerrc.com/product/4200mah-7-4v-rx-lipo-battery/

@Killer RC says that I do not need to run a voltage regulator and my stock electronics will be fine. Well I'm quite sure if I fry my servos they won't replace them so I'd rather be safe than sorry. My question is which voltage regulator should I get when I upgrade? If possible can you include a link to the product so I can get an idea of the cost? Thanks in advance, Steve.

Thanks for the reply. That's for the transmitter and I'm looking for a receiver battery. That's why I need the voltage regulator.

I'm not really seeing the advantage of going to lipo, with less capacity if you're just going to step it back down to 6V. Granted, I know that a LiPo pack has a flatter dishcarge curve, i.e. will hold a consistent voltage longer for the same capacity pack, but still. You're basically spending money for no reason IMHO. I ran the venom packs in my Baja, and was very happy with them.

Thanks for the reply. This is my second Venom 5000 mah receiver pack. The first pack I let it die between seasons and therefore was junk the next year. This year I charged the pack fully before I stored it and I'm hoping for a different outcome. I have 8 NIMH packs that are between 1200 and 1600 mah for my other rc's and I don't even touch them until when the season starts and they're fine. But with the Venom pack, it went dead on me. I like to get 3 runs out of a charge with the 5000 pack because I was only to get maybe 1 to 2 tanks the very most out of the 3000 stock pack. I would be happy to get 2 tanks out of my current venom pack because I don't run my baja that much seeing that I've only got 5 gallons on it since October of 2011 and I live in the northeast so I don't rc all year round. I just don't think my pack is going to "survive" the winter layoff so I'm planning ahead. I would like to get a LIPO 5000 mah pack that's a drop in replacement but I could not come up with one online so the 4100 mah was what I found.
