Hey guys,
I just ordered an Arrma BigRock 223S and I'm worried about the LVC issues. If I were to upgrade the ESC to a HobbyWing Max10 would I need a new receiver too or can it be taken out of the 223S system? I have CNHL 3S batteries and I've been told they're high enough quality to not trigger LVC but I want to get ahead of the potential problems. If I do need a new receiver what would you guys recommend? Is it all plug and play with the Max10? Will my CNHL batteries trigger it? This is my first Arrma and I'm very excited, coming from a bad experience with Traxxas. Thanks in advance.

CNHLs are very good batteries, you shouldn't have any load/voltage drop issues compared to like say Zeee packs. (RC explained on YouTube does really good job of testing and bringing out specs, also @Greywolf74 on here is also a great battery guy)

The receiver of the 223s is a 2in1 Rx and esc so you can't simply take it out. If you wanna stick with the stock SLT radio you would need a spektrum SLT receiver. Or you can get a aftermarket Rx/tx combo. Good budget ones are the Flysky GT3 and GT5 series.

If you do for some odd reason on any lipo pack, if you have voltage drop issues that triggers LVC, there isn't a way to fix it but a way to "patch it" so you can actually use the battery pack is just to disable the LVC through the esc settings. I did this with my junk Zeee packs with my rustler that has a BL120 G2 WP HW esc in it.

Thanks so much! I'd want to keep to stock Transmitter so I'd likely through in an SLT 215 receiver and better ESC (HobbyWing Max10) if I have issues. I'm hoping I don't but you never know.

I think the sr215 is only a DSMR protocol receiver so if it is I don't think it would bind up with the SLT radio. Could be wrong not sure. @CJSRCLIFE has and uses spektrum so just tagging him here since he knows more than me on the spektrum side.

On the esc side, hobbywing is top of the line stuff. I had most of their series of 10th scale escs from Quicrun, ezrun and xerun and they're beasts of escs. Bashing racing whatever you can use it for. 😎

Edit: Either the SLR300 (SLT) or the SR315 (Dual DSMR/SLT) receiver/s is probably the one you'd want. - If you get the SR315, in the future, you can upgrade to a DX5 or 6 spektrum radio if you'd want.

Thanks! I’ll make a post if I have any luck or not with the CNHL’s when it arrives. If not, I’ll be ordering a Max10, SLR300 and some double sided tape 😂

The Hobbywing ESCs in my experience the LVC is set too low. 3.0v. I reprogrammed mine to 3.3LVC to save the battery life. You still get long run times. I recommend Hobbywing. As far as the receiver, the stock radio, is it a SLT3? You will need a new receiver if you ditch the 2n1 in favor of a Hobbywing system. A SR315 or SR215 receiver is compatible with a SLT3. The Hobbywing system or any other for that matter, doesn't care what receiver or radio you have. A Flysky radio a receiver is very affordable if a complete new set of electronics are required.

The SLR300 would work with the stock radio or if you want to eventually upgrade to something like a DX6C or any other Spektrum computer radio you could get the SR315 since it's a dual protocol receiver. Horizon\Arrma\Losi uses the SR315 paired to the SLT2 or SLT3 transmitters in many of their RTR's you'd just have to look up how to bind it to one of those radios. I wish you luck with your truck.

Thanks! And yes it comes wkth the SLT3. I’d probably stick with Spektrum as for ss Transmitter/Receiver for simplicity.

I hope it works well for you, I've been running Spektrum gear for almost a year now since Radiounlink's sorry performance and lack of customer support and i've been impressed with my DX6C and maybe my soon to be new iXSR v2 this November.
