when my hyper .21 lost compression i bought a new piston and sleve and when i put the new piston in the old sleve the compression was the same as the new one. so I belive that U only need to by a new piston because the sleve is fine!:preachin:

Not all the time. Heat and friction can wear out both the piston and sleeve.
Plus heat plays a roll also.
In this case, it was just your piston.
Change them both if you bought them. The sleeve may be shaped to the old piston, and may need a changing.
Just because you have compression, doesn't mean it's good.
You wont know how good your compression is without a gauge.

You should always replace both the piston and the sleeve. The point of the engine breakin is to mate the piston and sleeve together forming a good seal. If you just replace one then it will cause more wear quicker on the engine than if you replaced both.

That's like pad slaping your breaks. Although the sleeve may not show as much ware as the piston it still has small grooves in it from the old piston and the new one is just going to ware in the same spots. It's better to buy a new engine when you can find them as cheap as $100!;)

that is stupit I would rather replace the piston and sleve than let a perfectly good engine sit there that I payed $250 for when the sleve and piston is $80 dollers

Not when you have a $250-500 engine..and a $100 engine really isn't gonna give you any real performance

If your paying $250 for a Hyper 8 port I have some gnines for sale!LOL:wedgie: You can get them on Ebay from time to time for around $100 so, if the P/S cost $80 why not just spend $20 or so more for a new one? If you have a $250 engine then I see your point but, not for a cheap engine.

I got mine for 90 but my ofna pico 21 0-1 bp was 250
i forgot to mention that the same thing happend to my p3

i also have a torq 21, ofna 26, hyper 21, a hyper 21 8port, ofna picco 21 0-1 bp and my p3 i do not need more engines for 2 trucks

Not to start any thing but you were a little hard on AC48 with that comment. You stated you had a Hyper engine and they run from $90.00 to $130.00 depending on were you get it. So his was a good suggestion. If you had stated that you had the $250.00 engine he would have worded it better I am sure. So maybe an apology to him would be in order. Just my two cents worth, I hate to see people get blasted for no reason.

Thanks

Even if you quoted the right person (Me) it would not have made any sense as we were still talking about the Hyper not your Picco or the 0-1. Unless I missed something?:wasted:
