What header/pipe would you use with this O.S. .18 CV-R w/11J Rotary Carb

Yep, since it is still a small block, side exhaust engine, it will work. I put a traxxas header on an OS .15 before, so it will work. The exhaust port size is the same.

It is an OS .18 not .15 will that matter?

Nope, won't matter. I have the traxxas header on my OS 18 CV-R(X). It's actually a pretty good flowing header. You want to stay away from headers that have sharp angles in them so you get good flow.

I bought my engine for my HPI NitroMT. Then I bought a header (the traxxas header) and an associated tuned pipe off a member here. Then I sold the truck, but I kept the engine/pipe/header in case I get a bug up my butt to run a 1/10 scale anything again. I never ran it thought after I bought the header and pipe, so I don't know the performance increase I would have gained. But considering the POS stock HPI header/pipe, almost anything would have been an improvement.

This is a photo of the engine with the header on it. It's a comparison photo for someone else... I ran that POS pipe in the pic once, it's loud and makes the engine hot.

Well I have that same header on my Megatech POS engine. I will just buy a new gasket, and slap it on that MoFo.

Any advise on a pipe? Could I use my old stock pipe from my Savage 25?

Ok, let me try again.... THIS IS NOT A BIG BLOCK! It uses all of the small block stuff you had on there before! It uses a .15 pipe!

Ok I get it. So I need to buy a pipe made for a .15 or .18

I am new at this stuff! Big block small block I have no freaking clue yet? The old pipe is garbage so I would like to by a good pipe for the SMALL BLOCK so Any suggestions?

Should I get the tmaxx aluminum tuned pipe?

THat would be a good choice. Or you could hunt around for something cheaper...

Traxxas Tuned Pipe
AE Tuned for mid-high end
AE Tuned for Low End

The shape, size in length and diameter of a pipe change how it reacts to the engine. The longer/skinnier the pipe, the more high end it generally has. Also, the length of the "cone" portion where it connects to the header affects performance. The longer/more gradual the "cone", the higher the RPM it's tuned for (the first AE pipe I listed). A short/fat pipe with an abrupt cone (the second AE pipe I listed) is generally for low end torque.

The traxxas pipe falls in between the associated pipes to try to give you the best of both worlds. But, for half the price, I'd choose the AE pipe for low end for the maxx...

I can't remember what the "cone" portion of the pipe is called... something like convergence cone I think. I've read up on pipes in the past and I wish I would have kept the links to the articals I had as a reference as my memory isn't as good of detail of what I've read.

Can someone suggest a good pipe for a Picco .21 t-maxx drop in? I currently have the standard t-maxx pipe that comes already installed. Price is open...but not crazy Tks
