I have a novarossi mt 12 , with a wore out piston and sleeve . I can't find one at my lhs . They run about 80-100 dollars. I heard that someone on the net can repair them for $20. Is it true? I am saving up for a new motor and I don't want to waste money on the mt. any help is app.

well i dont know which mill u are running but $80-100 for a new sleeve and piston is steep.maybe around 45-80 sound more like a cost of a new sleeve and piston . never heard of the net repair if it is thats just his labor plus parts and shipping i bet , If ur mechcaily inclined u can reapir urself or save up for a new mill

my 2 cents :preachin:

No I can fix it myself . I just that there is no compression I thought that I seen somthing on one of these forms about pinching the sleeve to regain compression :contract:

You are referring to getting your sleeve pinched and the guy that does it is OSRocket on ebay. Check him out I have heard from numerous people that is well worth it. I think it worth it. I would do it if my piston and sleeve costed that damn much. Check out his feedback he has made many people happy campers.

contact NCNitro, his buddy got his enigne pinched and it would great. I dont know where, but PM him and find out.

There's a great article in the JUNE issue of Radio Control Car Action, pg. 236 Piston Power. The author talks about postion squeezing and yes the man he says to call is John at OS Rocket.
You can contact him at [email protected].

Someone was telling me that in that same issue, they advertised a tool that you could actually do them yourself as well.

Did anyone happen to catch who the mftr was?

I just looked through the issue again and didn't see anyting. The article on Piston Power showed a caliper, measuring the differences in pitson diameter at different temps. Regarding piston squeezing, I quote, "This high-tech process has nothing to do with crushing your sleeve in a vise, so please don't attempt to do this yourself". End quote. The article talked mostly about running nitro engines in cold weather and how the sleeves never get hot enough to expand properly. Warm weather running gives the piston a chance to expand to it's intended size in relation to the piston. Sorry, didn't see anything about a tool though.

pinching i have a hyd.hose crimping machine at work. and have a 360 deg. smothe jaw this machine has muti. settings wonder if it whould work...????? mite give it a try..

Zandor if that does work than you will quickly become quite popular in the RC community. U should let us know though.

If you do try it, make sure your only pinching the top 1/3 of the sleeve. From what I've read, pinching any more than that will just cause bad performance. Basically, you don't want to pinch anything below the top of the exhaust port.

Pinching

Hey Zandor I Dont Know If You Have Been Checked Off On That Machine Yet.:ha: :ha: Maybe I Should Try The One I Have.
