Got a little bored on my drive back from Chino to the OC and stopped at Hobbypeople. Picked up the Duratrax frequency checker for 49.99. Thought it might come in handy. I'll get a chance to use it this weekend as I plan to get out for a road race. This way I can set my freq on my MX3-S synth Tx before hand and also check in the pits noone is messing around with crystals or freqs.

We have one at the track.
It's a great gadget.
The only thing that would have made that unit better is if two people were on the same channel, the color would change from red to say yellow.
This way you could see the conflict.

I've only seen them for 72 and 75 Mhz bands. Don't think they have them for 27Mhz yet. With only 6 standard 26Mhz channels, I doubt they will make one for that band.

That plus an audible alert.
Good idea.
In addition to what you said, maybe a look back at which freq's were used
during the day so you can see if someone was using a channel, and might be wrenching.
Then a reset or refresh button.

That is a good point, altho, Aircraft also have a band down in the 40's, don't they?

I think there are aircraft channels on other freq's but it seems like I read something about them requiring special FCC lic. to operate on those channels. Kinda like a Ham radio lic. to use then in the US.
