Hi everyone. really need some help with a problem that i have not been able to solve for about three weeks. i have a stock revo that i bought about a month ago. then i purchased a picco.26max engine. i purchased the correct mount and then set to work to fit the engine to the truck. upon installation i realised that the clutchbell was meshing too tightly with the spur. then realised that the clutchbell i had was for a maxx and not a revo, so i got a 15t revo clutchbell and re-mounted the engine. the engine and the mounts fit perfectly however the mesh of the spur and clutchbell are still extremely tight and there is no slack to let the truck roll about even with the brakes off. i contacted traxxas and they sent me links, however the links were for big blocks and the picco.26 is a mid block! i contacted them again and their best advice was to search forums etc, so here i am. still getting nowhere and getting more agitated everyday. has anyone managed to sucessfully install a .26picco into a revo? i have found arms that have a notch cut into them to allow space for the the ez-start to fit onto the backplate of the engine but these arms are only for bigblocks and i have at least 3mm between my ez-starter and rear a-arm. any ideas would be very much appreciated. should i start the car and just try rag it to let the spur/clutchbell make its own mesh?

smaller cb or spur shoud fix your problem.. or make the notches for the motor to slide in a bid longer.. DO NOT START IT.. you will burn up your clutch!!

smaller cb or spur effect my speed/acceleration? what would be better to downsize?, cb or spur? thanks for your help

A smaller C/B would be cheaper and easier to fit. If you drop from a 15T to a 14T then your top end speed will reduce by 1/15th. So if you had 45mph on a 15T pinion then you would drop to 42mph on a 14T pinion, but acceleration would improve.

smaller cb = less top more bottom smaller spur = more top less bottom.

dunno what would happen if you dropped both..

sweet. I'll try a 14t and see how it goes. not sure how many teeth my spur has. its stock so should not be hard to find out. can't wait to get this little beast running. thanks guys.

sorted

OH MY ACTUAL GOD. sorted it. ended up on a 14t cb and the stock spur. just put it all together and its ready to run. gona try it on tuesday. I'll let ya know how it goes.

still no luck

built the truck and had it ready to run. got out to the field with a buddy. primed the engine, preheated the glow plug and then gave it a blast with the ez start module. engine started and then died due to coldness. tried crankind it over again but the motor Wouldnt turn. i think that Theres too much compresion in the .26 and that the feeble trx 2.5r ez start motor is not powerfull enough to crank the engine over. the battery i was using in the ez start unit was fully charged and turned my friends trx2.5 engine over no sweat. i took my engine apart to service it and make sure the problem was not internaly within the engine, there was no problem within the engine so i've reassembled the truck and still no luck. should i buy a pullstart and see if i am more successful manualy turning the engine over. i'm really losing patience with it now. my friends stock revo is flying about and mine is just sat feeling sorry for itself. has anyone else had problems with ez start not turning over theyre engine?

You might have burned out the Sleazy Start but more than likely youa re ina hydraulic compression state so back off the glow plug one full turn, set the flywheel at BDC, use a glow starter instead of the Sleazy Start wire, and then hit it with a freshly charged Sleazy Start'er. If it fires up, once it runs, snug the plug in with the glow charger. Once up to running temp fully snug the plug in as usual. Watch out for wheelies!!!

If thats a new engine after you run it a few times it will be easier to start. Maybe use a hairdryer to heat it up. Might help. Good luck and have FUN!!

Personally, I'd have tried a smaller spur. The 26 you installed will have more than enough power to compensate for the taller gearing. Running a smaller CB will give you more low end (which you won't need). As it is, you might be having diff/trans problems with all that power (if you can get it running).

Gearing taller puts less stress on the drivetrain.

I have a max .26 in my Tmaxx, when the engine is new it helps ALOT if you can preheat it, so get the sleave to loosen up some.

Gearing, I use a 18th Clutchbell, and a 51 tooth Spur, and the thing still has Good bottomend and Killer Top End, its a good motor, I have around 4 gallons through mine and it still has great compression, and runs great. You will see once you hit about 1 gallon through it, the motor will really come to life.
