These type of people kind of annoy me to no end. I'll give a little background to this one. My daughter had a fever of 101.7 when she came home from school Thursday. I gave her some tylenol and her fever dropped to 100.something. About 4 hours later while she was under blankets her fever had risen to 103.7. I gave her more tylenol and it dropped again to 100.something. She vomited a small amount that night but still had a little fever.
She stayed home from school Friday and when I picked her up after work my ex wife told me about a rash that was covering most of her body and she still had a small fever. By 6 Friday night the fever was gone and my daughter was tearing around the house. She was fine the rest of the weekend.
This morning after her bath I noticed the rash was really visible. I decided to call the "ask a nurse" line. After relating to the story to the nurse she started speaking, something about her manner of speaking told me I was talking to the "wrong" person. I answered her questions in full detail.
As she told her diagnosis I realized she was not telling me anything I had not already figured out for myself. I asked a question or two and every time I did she started over again saying the exact same thing she was saying previously. I decided she was rolling and waited for her to finish before I asked a question again.
Now I asked a few questions and she started yet again saying the exact same thing she had said before. I commented that it sounded like she and I were saying the exact same thing 2 different ways and she started again. I was almost as if she had her whole dialog in front of her and to deviate from this full dialog was against the law or something...
By now I knew I was pretty much talking to a brick wall. I did everything within my power to not be rude and hang up on her. I also kept trying to give her a hint that the conversation was needing to end.
I believe thoroughly if I kept talking to her I was going to lose my already better than average medical knowledge that I already possessed, stupidity is contagious and I habe already lost enough brain cells over the years to want to lose more..
