Paypal alternative?

2 issues here.

1) I just received PP payment from a buyer and the funds are available to me right now without any delay.

2) I also just went into e-bay to create a new item to sell. There are 2 methods of payment to choose from other then PayPal.

Where are you getting your info from?
It seems to be not right or something that may happen in the future that I'm not aware of.

Will you please post your supporting information to back these claims up.
If indeed they are true, I need to know.

Although i dont sell on e-bay i do buy stuff ocasionally and am tierd of waiting for paypal to clear. I don't have a credit card to link to pay-pal so the e-cheque thing ends up taking 2 weeks to clear sometimes longer.
Just for my own curiosity is there any reason not to just e-mail the funds to the seller? If you know the seller you can just send funds to them via e-mail and its done asap. I don't know if there are saftey issues behind this stopping people from it but it works fine for me for sending family or friends cash if needed!!

Looks like I won't be affected.

"The bottom line is that established sellers with a good track record should not be concerned. PayPal will not hold payments for eBay items if sellers:

* Have been an eBay member for more than 6 months, and
* Have a total Feedback score greater than 100, and
* Have a buyer satisfaction percentage of 95% or better.

or:

* Have an average Detailed Seller Rating greater than 4.5, and
* Have received more than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings in the last 12 months."

I do think they have lost their minds not allowing MO or cashiers check. They can use whatever reasoning they want. The bottom line is that they make no money when someone uses a MO or cashiers check. They get a 3-thumbs down from me on this one.

Looks like most people will not be effected by the "Hold".
I dont see this as being a bad thing. I like the fact that if I'm buying from a new seller that the chances of the transaction going south are a lot less likely. I think this is a good one to have on the books. If someone wants to establish themselves as a trusted seller then this will make them pay their dues that they need to pay to become trusted and to teach them the ropes of how to properly conduct themselves.

I accept PP only on e-bay so none of this effects me in the slightest. For me its a non issue, issue. Ill guess the people that wont like either new rule are the people that have less then good e-bay skills or just plain out want to screw someone. Other then that its their game and we need to play by their rules. Like it or not.

Thanks for the links, I was unaware of either new practice.

I don't like the new rules, you saying I am out to screw someone? Or OI don't conduct my ebay practices the way you think I should? I guess Jeff was out to screw the guy who bought his tickets too huh? I have been a member for 6+ years, I have 100% positive feedback. However I would often pay for something I wanted via a postal money order if I did not have the funds in my pp account to pay for it and the seller accepted money orders. Now that is no longer an option to me, so that seller will automatically lose my buisness thanks to ebay eliminating money orders because they don't get a cut of that.

But hey, if it doesn't effect you, then the new rules are okey dokey.

Hmmm...looks like I'm just getting boned because I don't run a ton of business on Ebay. I've been a member since 2002. I have a 100% feedback rating. But I only have 24 feedbacks. So now they consider everything I do "high-risk"? And I'll have to deal with this until I sell 75 items on Ebay? I wonder if they'll put holds on any non-ebay transactions I perform. God knows it could be another 10 years before I sell 75 more items. Sounds to me like Ebay is continuing to progress towards catering to people who aim to make a living on their site. The casual seller seems to be slowly getting squashed.

Now, are you done being negative Nacy?

Take a look at a majority of the e-bay scams and bad issues that people have. Sure good people will get caught in the crosswind here but for the majority its not a bad thing.

No MOs, no MO fraud.
Need to prove yourself first to get your cash right away then so be it. A majority of E-Bay issues and PP issues are from either new users that dont know the system or from people looking to scam someone with a new account. Takes care of both issues.

Again, the bad people make it more difficult for the mostly good crowd. Its their game either play buy their rules or dont play.

Are you going to buy or sell on e-bay?

I think you hit it on the head.
People who make a living or sell a larger amount are less likely to screw people.

It would be my guess that a large % of the E-Bay / PP issues are with the people that use it the least.

Craigs list is a great alternative for occasional sellers and its free.

Google Checkout seems to be gaining a lot of ground - not nearly as big as paypal, but an alternative.
