Paypal alternative?

Well, looks like Paypal has made some more changes lately. Which are really pissing me off. Seems now, when you sell something on Ebay, Paypal doesn't let you have the money until either 1) you prove the item has shipped, 2) they buyer leaves your feedback or 3) until 21 days has passed.
Here's my big pissoff. I sold my NASCAR tix online and frankly need the money. But since I didn't go through Paypal to arrange the shipping, even though I entered the FedEx tracking numbers (which had already confirmed the tix were delivered) I'm still waiting for the money. I've sent messages to the buyers urging them to leave feedback asap, but I'm at their mercy. So now I have to sit here and wait to get my $$$.
Yeah, I get it. It's to prevent fraud and scams. But at the same time, why the hell should I wait when I have already proven the items have been delivered, just not using their method? This blows and it's another major reason why I am really running away from the whole Paypal/Ebay monopo-scam.

Yep, more bullcrap from evilbay/paypal. I try to not use either of them at all anymore. I don't sell at all on ebay anymore, and I am no longer interested in accepting paypal as a payment for anything anymore. They both suck!!!

Personally, I have no issues with Paypal, but that's because I don't utilize their services for more than standard web store purchases. I don't sell on the bay at all because it's just not worth the effort. With all the fees and red tape it's not worth it unless you are running a large business and if you wanted my honest opinion I'd tell you that they have been formatting their red tape and fees to discourage "middle of the pack" business folks. I feel like they either want you to do 5 transactions/year or 5000.

the final value fee's are RIDICULOUS on ebay. sure you get a great buyer base but its unreal how much they charge to sell on there.

I use paypal for all of my purchases on the forums and the online stores, and I haven't had any problems. Everything has worked out good for me so far. However that really sucks with the ebay setup, I hate that for you Jeff. I buy and sell a good bit on ebay and use paypal for the majority of my payments, and I dont like this new policy.

And now evilbay forces you to accept paypal, you can no longer accept money orders, because their greedy asses don't get a cut of the money order. Ebay can go piss up a rope before I will sell there anymore.

ebay bought paypal which still is not a federal bank so all your money could just go poof and nobody would really give a shite. Not that anyone really does anyways. LOL

E-bay advertises how they protect you with paypal buyer protection. Yeah thats the biggest fraud of them all! Been down the road a couple time and got screwed both times. Good Idea with poor execution.

But I never did learn. LOL

Yup, and it's more like the An-durrrrr-son WalMart more than anything. I swear, people go there just to piss other people off. Yesterday, some redneck family lost one of their kids (the brat ran to the toy section), and they had to call a "Code Sam" (like Code Adam, but Walmarts take on it). They locked the store, and did an isle-by-isle search. All because some hillbilly momma couldn't control her kid.

Couple that with all the people that don't watch where they're walking.

You just gotta love the Great Walmart of China.

It's only advantage is that it's open 24 hours; I go there at 2am. It's practically dead.

I've found that shopping on the forums is cheaper than ebay, I'm buying from someone who has been given feedback or dealt with people that I know, and I don't have to deal with waiting until the auction ends or any of that. I probably buy on average about 10-15 parts a week from the forums, some new and some used. So far, I've been stung once. That was my own fault and I take full responsibility. I bought an RC from a guy on the forum that wasn't listed in the for sale section or anything. I sent a portion of the money and he sent me the RC, so I still got a good deal. But then when I sent the rest of the money he never sent the few little spare parts that he had left. So, I got about 90 percent of my stuff and paid less than half what I would have given for it normally on the forums or ebay, so it wasn't too bad. But I shouldn't have bought something from someone I didn't know that wasn't posted in the for sale section.

This can not be stressed enough.

If you accept Paypal for an ebay payment, use Paypal to ship the item. The fact that you shipped the item and that the seller received can’t be disputed when you do it this way.

They set the rules. Play by them, and you will not have a problem.

To me that's extortion on every level. To sell on ebay, you MUST accept ONLY paypal, accept paypal, which you now have to, now you MUST ship using paypal, or you are sol. If I want to ship UPS, FED Ex or USPS, I should not be forced to play by their rules, or they are allowed to hold my money for 21 days. UPS tracking is by far the best, and there is no disputing as to where the package is, when it was shipped, and when it was delivered. So sorry Rob, I think it is total bull!

The person who Jeff sold his tickets to, has already received them, and enjoyed the race, while Jeff still does not have his money, and can PROVE they buyer received them. I don't care what type of spin you want to put on it, it is flat out wrong, period!

I think its wrong too. I use USPS for most of my shipping now, but when I was using UPS, ebay was allowing you to choose UPS as your shipping method if you wanted, and you could ship through them. I don't know if ebay is now eclusively using USPS or not, but after reading what NC wrote it sounds like that to me.

I hate what happened to jeff, but I do have to say that I agree with Rob. If you choose to use ebay, I would reccomend using their shipping services. That way, if there is a problem, you can dispute it according to their rules.

I'm not saying that I agree with the rules at all, and because of this I don't use ebay nearly as much as I have in the past, however since the rules are the rules, I think its in the best interest of the seller to use the shipping method so that everything can be verified.

Also, there are other sites that work similar to paypal which aren't as popular, although I'm not familiar with them and wouldn't use them unless I knew a lot of people that were using it without problems.

Jeff, keep us updated on the scenario and let us know when the buyer leaves feedback, and if that corrects the problem.

You don't have to ship using paypal. You can use whoever you want. However, if the buyer disputes receiving the item, the burden of proof is on you and it could take days or even weeks to resolve. Using paypal to ship avoids this.

I just received payment on an auction via paypal and there is no hold on the funds whatsoever.

The only time I have ever had a hold on funds is when someone uses echeck and that is usually only 5 days.

Is the no money orders thing an upcoming rule? If so, I have not been notified. I also have not been notified of the new Paypal rules and can't find them on the site.

I am able to add the money order/cashier check option to all my current auctions.

Yes, it is an upcoming rule, I am unsure if it has taken effect as of yet, however it will be if it has not already.

Ebay is also trying to push auctions to buy it now, rather than auction style, they say, to compete with sites like amazon, if I want to buy it now, I don't go to an auction site. Their new management seems hell bent on doing away with the casual seller, raising fees through the roof, forcing the use of paypal, I really hope someone steps up and comes up with viable alternatives to both epay, and paypay.

I actually do not use ebay as an auction format when I sell.

All my stuff is Buy it Now with the Offers Accepted feature.

I put a fair price as a Buy it Now and am able to choose to accept, deny or counter offer any offers I get.

It has worked out well for me and I don’t end up giving stuff away.

Since I prefer Paypal anyway, the new Paypal only rule will not affect me.

If it works for you, more power to ya. But I for one am sick of the ever increasing final value fees, listing fees, and paypay fees, and I know I am not the only one.

Everybody who sells on ebay is sick of the escalating fees.

Hence why listings are down and their bottom line and stock price is suffering.

The door is open for another entity like Google to move in and make a run at them.

Fees aside, the fact that a seller can’t leave negative feedback has got to be most ludicrous idea that has been conceived no matter what the reason.

That alone has made the feedback system useless as tits on a boarhog! Buyers can take as long as they want to pay, be as unreasonable as they want, not pay at all, and the seller can not leave negative feedback, now how stupid is that, and the person that came up with that.
