Was at the local hobby shop this morning and was looking around, and was just wastin some time looking at some bodies. I never got a chance to really compare bodys before but WOW do parma lids suck compared to proline, and hpi. (there was also a a few lids there by "Mad Mikez", anyone ever hear of them before? They were actually pretty nice) But anyway, I couldnt believe how undetailed, and to rounded the parma lids are. Anyone else notice this or was I just looking at some old lids or something. they also seemed REALLY thin and flimsy compaired to the others. Was just curious

Well as a body maker myself I must say Parma is one of the best body makers out there It might be a little unfair to compare one parma body. And I think they are very good on detail. Could I ask you which body you are referring to?

from what bodys me and vincemaxx bought they are not good. No over spary film( Every body should have that) Poor detail on the stickers. and a ton of molding errors. Now parma done have one thing that no one else has... alot of different style bodys.
Now there mask(for painting) are great.

Undetailed?.......

On the other hand, this body had quit a few molding errors which upset me, but it still turned out alright.

EDIT: I also didn't use the head and tail light stickers that came with it, Doug's post tells you exactly why.

To be truthfull no, I am a nice guy and I dont want to call some place up complaining about how there products could be that much better. Everything they make is great execpt for there bodys. I have never seen a proline body with molding errors and I have seen one hpi body with a error, and all the parma bodys except for one that I have seen has had molding errors. Now the main thing that turned me off about parma bodys is(This may sound stupid) No over spary film. Most molding errors wont be that visible once painted but like I said before over spary film is a must.

Again these are just my oppions.
What would one guy do saying your bodys have alot of errors and you need overspary film?

I was looking at a Garbage truck one,a bus, and a old chevy truck. To me they looked VERY undetailed compaired to the HPI and proline ones. Also seemed to be thinner and flimsier lexan. Like I said, maybe they were older models (I dunno) but they sure looked assy compaired to the others.

I have given out Info. on over spray film and It's over rated The plastic we get for doing bodies comes with that film on it. It helps keep the plastic from being scratched when shipped or stored .I my self dont like it because it can cause uneven heating when molding it If a customer want's it I'll leave it on but I have never got overspray on a car with out it. I do use it for shipping ... I Have talked to the owner of Parma and he is a real nice guy. I'm doing this thing for childrens hospital and didn't have time to build a bus body from scratch so Parma let me modify one of there designs so it would fit these cars WAY cool of them !!! And Doug you sound like a nice guy but I really think you should get ahold of them to discuss this. If someone was unhappy with one of my bodies I would want to know about it right a way.

Not to be a jerk, But I wouldnt buy a body without the film on it. I'm not a expert paitner by any means, so I need all the coverage I can get. Plus Without the film, I would imagine it would get pretty scratched up even during the painting process. When I'm painting, the lid isnt always in my hand. But anyway, I was just saying, and wondering if anyone else thought parma bodies looked really cheasy sitting next to HPI and Proline bodies. Because they really do look sad compaired to them.

I can not agree with this . I have been painting for a long time now and i have found that Protororm / Proline bodies have lost a lot of there quality now they are a lot thinner than they used to be . I have a couple of Palma Chevy bodies here and they are a lot stronger , very well detailed and do have a proctive film on them . I have never had a prob with over sprey on bodies with out it .Before i would just use plastic lunch rap to cover bodies without film on them but now i dont even do that .One of the probs i have found wit bodies that have protective film on them is that they always have it on the wrong side of the rear spoiler .

Like I said, maybe it was just these bodies, since it was the 1st Parma ones I have seen in person. I have noticed that the porline ones seem flimsier than the HPI ones also. I've been VERY happy with HPI bodies. So I was just kinda wondering what others thought of the parma ones. I thought the garbage truck one was kinda cool, and I see they have a Old coupe out now that looked kinda cool, but if they were like the ones I saw, I'm gonna have to pass. Good to hear there not all like the ones I saw apparently. As far as the film, like I said, I'm not a expert painter at all, so I need all the help I can. But I suppose if I trimmed it after i painted, it would be better.. O-well.

I'm working on a Parma Alpha body now, because Protoform had discontinued theirs. It looks ok to me, and has the protective film on it. I was even able to mount the front one notch lower than a Mazda6 which I'm very happy with. I've got no problems with it so far.

On a side note for the non-film bodies...... FINGERNAIL POLISH REMOVER will take overspray off without fogging the lexan.
