Help out the new guy... I want to paint a body but need more info... My LHS sold me Testors enamel spray paint and said it would work for a lexan body I did a sample to see if it would stick and it did but then I put some 20% nitro on it and let it set for a while and it wiped right off. So my question is ,Is there something I have to do to seal hte paint from the nitro spills and exhaust or is this not even the right paint to be using?

I don't think Testor's enamel is the paint to use. The Testor's brand recommended for Lexan is Pactra, I believe. And it's recommended to a add a couple coats of a sealer as the last application.

For lexan bodies, there are only a few brands that I would suggest. The usual suspects are Parma Faskolor and Pactra Racing Finishes. But Alclad and Spaz Stix are 2 awesome companies who make great paints for bodies. And a little secret...if you go to a craft store like AC Moore or Michael's, look for a brand called Createx. These paints are essentially the same as Faskolor and about 2/3 the price...

Dude candy man that's a great tip on the cheeper paint. That has been the one problem I have had with painitng new bodies. Ya know you get your new body for $26.00 plus if you wanna make it cool you have to try to make a design of some sort which for me I need to use a paint mask of some sort that I have to buy. Another $4.00. Plus I usually buy at least 3-4 cans of paint cuz I don't have an airbrush at all. Yeah all I was trying to say was usually like $50.00 or so for me to paint a body and stuff. So great tip. Later

Candyman , do the Createx paints you mention come in spray or brush? Either way I'm covered I have a air brush but am still learning to use it to it's maxium use. The reason I got the Testors is that it is a exact match to the truck I drive for transportation and would like my T-Max to match . So do you think I can use this and put some kind of sealer over it to protect it from the gas spills? Also does the Createx paints remain gas prooof? Do they have a sealer ? Newbie questions I know but what can you say!!!

Createx are airbrush paints.

I'd rethink my choice of LHS if they told you to use Testors enamel paint. It will not stick when the body flexes, it'll make a mess of your body and truck when pieces of paint keep popping off.

If you want it to match your daily, try making it just a show body.

Createx will not be fuel proof, regular sealers will work with them though.

Testor paints are for model kits. Like candyman mentioned, for lexan use the Parma can spray if u don't have an airbrush.
