You can, but do not scuff the windows, or if you plan to use any chrome do not scuff where the chrome will be. IMO it is more important to clean the body well, I use dish soap and water, followed by a good cleaning of da.
 
This is something Lessen & NCNitro clued me in on and I've been doing ever since with great results:

Aside from a good cleaning, make sure that the first coat you do is very light. You aren't looking for total coverage just a light misting of paint applied. Let it dry completely before applying any other coats. It's better to do multiple light coats with ample dry time in between applications than a couple of thick ones.
