OWB fix

Owning a few models which torque starts on them
I get few a lot of one way bearings at £9 a pop there not cheap i went to my local bearing dealer and picked 10 up for £1 each without the hex and discover that you can keep the hex and just tap the one way bearings out and replace them the guy at the hobby hop said you couldn't do this ?!! So now I'm puzzled has he been pulling the wool over my eyes, because Inow have 10 owbs ready to go for £10 which is the price of one

I don't know what to tell ya, except I still have good ones from 2005 when I bought my first Revo.....I've never had one fail since my old t-maxx with the pro-15 in it.

Seriously!! That's some good goin I've switched most o my engines out for pullstarts and never had a owb go with a pullstart. I'm just a tad annoyed I've been gettin ripped of all this time ! had a quick look on ebay and you can buy just the bearinf of there £2 delivered so if anyone needs a replacement Try and have a go yourself save some ££££

yes , I've been doing this also , I've just buy only the OWB and pop the old one and replace it, and it works well, no problem. But my starter is pullstart in all my engine.

May depend on the OWB. I have never tried it, but I know LST guys used to do that with their LST's 2 speed OWB. They would put the hub over a block of wood with a hole in it, then tap the old one out using a socket and hammer, then tap the new one in.

My OWB's tend to last me a long while though. When they start slipping, cleaning them out really well with DA gets the dried oil/gunk out of them that seeped into it from the starter shaft. Then a little 3-in-1 and it's good to go for a while. I do the same with the ones that are inside the engine as they get soaked with fuel/oil that varnishes up and makes the bearings stick to the housing vs moving and biting on the starter shaft.

Could that be why when the ezstart turns most time doesntseem like motor is?

Yeah that'll be your problem switch it out for a pullstart I find with a pullstart you can tell what the engines doing a little better

Probably not intentional. My LHS has 1 guy in it that knows much of anything and he owns the place. The rest are kids that know far less. Even then, he's asked me for my thoughts on more than one occasion when I go there.

I wouldn't have thought of it if I hadn't seen a post/thread on it at a LST forum a few years back.

It may have been a mix of the two. He does make money from selling parts, but he may not have known that it was possible. He may also not feel comfortable giving suggestions like that if he doesn't know the end result. I know in the shop I work at, if someone is asking about a something I have no experience with (waterproofing an esc for example), I point them to youtube and tell them to use caution. I don't want to tell someone to do something that could mess something up, they may feel as if the shop was suggesting it and should be responsible.

Would hope he just didn't know. That is something most people just never thought about being a cheaper part.
Or like mentioned he didn't want to tell you to thenit not work out.

I guess your Probaly right he's an old bloke that's helped me out on one or more occasion it's not like he wouldn't stop getting my buisness I don't know anymore hobby shops local

i know a guy that has some sort of exceed SCT....he was telling me he did that. I know it worked at least initially but I've never asked him if it was still working. I'm not sure he even runs that truck that much anymore. I mostly see him with his Rustler or his Savage now.
