So i screwed up a paintjob on one of my slash shell's and i was wondering if i could paint the outside of the shell in dark gray/silverish to look like a primer'd body...... anyone screwed around with this idea?

I think it would be a great idea. The only problem I can think of is if the body scratches onto something, the paint will scrape away.

It could be like the ugly truckling build! Sounds like it would work just sand the surface first.

The lexan paint wont stick if it is not roughed up? It sticks to the smooth bottom.......

Instead of trying to paint outside, try stripping off the paint first. Using Dot3 brake fluid in the body helps strip the paint. If the body doesn't go well or it fogs up, then you paint the outside. Better to try first then to just skip ahead.

There's a tutorial by Squirrelod on Youtube.

Well, the blue and red one is the one that i am not really feeling that much. I really like the white one, i havent picked out her name yet, its either Skeet, or SnowJob. But i can't decide about the blue and red one. The lines arent that clean, and there seems to be a little dark color mixed with the red.

Yes you can paint the outside. I have done several flat paintjobs. Krylon ultra flat paint adheres great to lexan bodies, and does not chip off, plus if it does get scratched, just remask the windows and shoot a fresh coat on it and it will look like new.

This one was done with Krylon Camo Ultra Flat Olive Drab.

And this one with Krylon Ultra Flat Black...

I have done several over the years, a hummer for my Maxx, where the body was destroyed and none of the paint had chipped off. I have done buggies, Jeeps, and a few others, they have all held up great. Plus I really like the look of the flat black, it just looks tough.

With all of the flaws, i am kinda digging the blue and red now, idk why. I think I'm going to just paint the stocker. What do yall think.

Sooo I'm a complete dumbass. I was painting the outside of the stocker, (after i removed the decals) with a black dull finish primer, and low and behold, what was right behind my fan dragging the fumes away form me? You probably didnt guess it: Skeet/Snowjob. So there was a million tiny little black spots on it. Soo i decided to try and get it off, with paint thinner, and now, it is all warped and cracked. Idk what happened, so now, i have to go and pick up a new body, because i really really really liked the pure white one. $35 down the drain.

Paint thinner actually melts the lexan I think. Using brake fluid, or nitro fuel (According to some people), will help remove paint.

yea, too late for that lil tidbit of advice. Ill just pick a new one up tommorrow. Thank god for all that Gustav overtime money i got.

Screw it go to a truck shop where they do bed liners ask them to hit it with Rhino liner.

Well in that case scratch that idea. Although would of been cool. can you imagine rubbing someone on the track just to see the gouges in there lexan body.

i like the blue and red one and i painted my onroad car body flat black and then flipped uit and it wasn't bad at all
