LOL! Oh sir, I've learned enough to know that doing it on some home brew table won't get the detail and it won't look right. (yes, WAY unhealthy trait ... I'm an artist) If I do this right, I could make 35 bucks per sale, should anyone actually buy these things. I've added front spoilers (ground effect portions) to all so they can be used for Drag cars & such too so they're not specific to just one segment (not like bodies really are anyway, but there's always some helpless soul that may see it, go "OOOOOO!" and buy it just because it says it'll fit their thingy.)

Or just paint it red white & blue, and put a hot chick next to it... that'll sell it.

Preliminary test in 060 Polycarbonate. Reason: Make initial thicker ones to remake in the proper material because guess what... molds gotta have strong kung fu folks. The process of professionally yanking smoking hot polycarbonate over a mold and getting the details... was the goal here and the pressure & heat involved to get it right, is pretty impressive (and a tad scary to watch, it happens so fast and it's soooo hot). Sure, one can do the vacuum table thingy with shop vacs, but you won't get the detail commonly because of even heating, pressure, and speed from what I can tell.

This was also to see where I'm at with the level of depth in features, what comes out right, what's wrong, etc.

I want it right.

Not bad for "the first 2" off the line I think. I'll present, the ShellaBasher 50'ish, and the CX (the Chevy C10 Short course competitor to that gnarley Ford F100 baja thingamajig by Proline. LOL!

(disregard what look like bubbles, it's the peel off layer still on. They're purdy underneath.

Thanks! I might add a few notes for others, if it helps. It doesn't make me right, nor do I think I know everything. It's just thoughts.

Copying an existing body. How easy is it? It's not as simple as one thinks. When someone takes an existing body and pours say, plaster in it and attempts a mold... features of the original are lost. (like some on yoootube) Why? Because the plastic isn't going to go all the way into the grooves. With a professional setup, they will get close however.

But.... give thought to this.

The original mold, like mine... the lines are very deep. This all was a test to see how deep I had to go, to have the product show up like normal RC cars. My lines, were deeper than you would think. Twice as deep than what turned out in the professionally pulled body.

This means, the original molds on professionally done cars had deeper lines too... thus, the resulting body showed what it did. If you cast the resulting body, the resulting lines will become shallower, and shallower and less pronounced.

Will you get the shape of it, sure. Will it work, sure... but "lost in translation" applies here. Eventually, if you don't have an artist re-carve the features, it'll just be a lump in the shape of some car.

I'm about to have in my silly hands, the original Parma 1955 Chevy Nomad Body. It's not even made any more. (this is so I can steal the top by casting it and putting it on the 55'ish body, making the SC nomad. I'm also going to compare it to that 55 sportsman body out there that sells a lot... which I suspect... was it's historical twin originating from the same molds. If I'm right, this original's lines will be far more pronounced than the 55" sportsman that sells today. (it was a recast product)

I'll see what I can do. I'll cast the nomad fully in a new mold with proper materials, then cast a top portion for my mod project. I don't see too much trouble in repoping it as is and I'm sure some would love it. Selling it on the other hand as a product, would require a search on patents prior to doing so. I don't expect the original mold for this one is still around or some company would have remade already. It was quite popular in my days.

No matter. I have some bodies to make. Next up that fricken Van. Molding angles gotta be right because the silly plaster mold... usually wipes itself out in the pro shop. (that's with detail) I get one shot at it, as is with this stupid method, but.... the resulting single 060 body "IS" the reverse master.

I still haven't come up with a suitable name for it yet, but it's gotta be just stupid.

I think "box of shame" covers it... or Efffing Van. I dunno.

It's been modified a tad because I can't bring myself to outright steal the entire front end from Proline's Ford F100. It was the platform on the beginning of it. As a real artist, I just can't. Outright stealing someone's full work, and selling it isn't ok with me. Elements of it, fine... reconfiguring it, fine. It's got more of a "galaxy 500" or 65' mercury comet stacked 4 headlights now up front, and tail lights like one might see on a falcon... or thunderbird. We wiped out the vertical items in the grill too.

It is a sketchy weird van after all. Nothing good can come from this. LOL

A sneek peek, (a ways to go still..) but complete with some options up front. This beast is ugly. (probably why it's cool is my guess)

as for that nomad, I will cast what I need for my own creation, and a whole cast of it, then probably send it to them blue dudes and let em play. (and send me a the original back) I've no interest in really copying something out there that could be patented. That's mucho trouble and they can have it.

I really like the van, a couple names that hit me right of the bat:
1- The Flying Dutchman
2- The Starship Enterprise
That’s what I would name a van, personally. To each their own.
