I seem to have te engine tuned pretty well but i am finding some oil on the starter cover is it normal for an os? looks like from the head side of the pipe.thnx

You might have a head gasket issue. I'd pull it and check it to see if it's been cut or worn/melted. You can also use two header springs instead of one. I have to do that on my savage with an OS 21 RG or it doesn't seal right and leaks with the HPI header.

thanks for te info. if its not fixed right away can it damage my engine? i am about two hours away from LHS

the gasket was the problem. torn real bad, guess I'm down for a couple of days. the LHS is closed monday any way. long drive from the hills of mendicino CA.

Is this that gasket that connects the header to the motor that is held on by spring(s)? If so, does anyone know where you can find this gasket...I need one for the same motor and for a Revo as well. I've tried Tower and Ebay with zero luck.

Thanks
Ray

this is the gasket and i can't find one either

maybee OS?

Oh you're good...real good :)

I tried forever searching tower and couldn't find anything close using stuff like manifold/exhaust.

Thanks
Ray

Dynamite makes a kit too that has some exhaust gaskets in it, it's about half the price if you LHS carries them.

At my office, I oversee the maintenance of reporting, queries, import programs, export programs and all user interfaces of about 120 databases at any given point in time... Been doing it for about 7 years. I know how to find stuff.

The key to finding some obscure things on tower is to find the vehicle or engine that has the part your looking for. Then, once you found the vehicle/engine, take a look at the replacement parts list. I find a lot of "odd" things that they don't use the proper name for... or at least the proper name that we have learned.

thanx for the info. my LHS has the part. and the next wagon train is bringin ti outhttps://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/images/smilies/drunk.gif

Hello there,

i just purchased my new O.S. .18 engine for my REVO.
can you tell what should i do for maintenance the engine after every ride?
i use Sidewinder 20% and i heard that i dont need to use After run...is it true?

Thank you,

Eitan

1. Empty the tank of all fuel.
2. Pull the plug, put a couple drops of ARO in there then spin the starter for a couple seconds.
3. Spin the flywheel so the piston is at BDC. Put the plug back in.

Do this after every run and that TM will last a long time. Whoever told you that you don't need to because you are using Sidewinder is misleading you. Even if the manufacturer states that, I still suggest doing these steps.

Enjoy that TM!

thank you very much for your answer.

today i just run out of fuel and try to start up the engine for 10 seconds...and after that i just realized that i run out of fuel and put some fuel in the tank and start it up.

Can this event damage the engine? (for now on , i will have a look on the fuel before i start up the engine)

thanks

Nah, it won't hurt it. Wouldn't make a habit out of it, but it won't do any long term damage.

thanks,

another question, do i need to cut off the engine in the end of the day by pinching the fuel line or by pressing the flywheel?
which fuel do you prefer for the o.s. 0.18tm ? something with 16% oil?

Either works fine. I personally pinch the line, but some folks throw a rag into the flywheel or use an old screwdriver. There's been some debate on this, with some feeling pinching the line may cause some damage because it leans the engine out for a bit, but I feel if you're tuned right, the lean condition only lasts a few seconds and that, in and of itself, is not enough to damage the engine.

Sometimes it's just enough to blow a plug though... I touch the flywheel to kill it.

Just an FYI on the OS 18TM, I have 15/36 gearing and I can't keep the front end down... I mean, I expected more power than the 2.5R, but this is just nuts. I have about 1.5 quarts through my engine since last weekend when I began break-in. I swapped out my 15/40 for the 15/36 gearing this morning before going out to try and tame it down a bit. Now it flips faster so I can't react. Really did a number on my body.
