Os .21 VZ-B(P)

I believe I'm the first on RCNT to get one.
I'm going to be installing it in my Storm Pro this evening.

If anyone has any experience with this engine in particular please let me know.

I'm off to the workbench. :jet:

Do they make one of those with a pull start? The engine and drive train is giong to be one of the first hop-ups for my inferno next spring. Keep us posted on how that beauty performs.

nope - this is a race engine, so OS assumes that u wont ever use a pullstart. The RZ and the TR series are the same way.

You are correct. The (P) is for pilot shaft as compared to a standard or short shaft.

I would pay for the entertainment value to watch someone try to use a pull-start on this bad-boy. Its near impossible to turn it over by hand matchless a pull-start.

OS included plastic covers for all the orifices, nice touch.

I got everything installed and ready to go last night and I'm going to try and run a few brake in tanks today. I hope it offers me all the OS quality and power. Time shall tell.

gotta love the edit button.......Eddy, u sick bastard

i'm trying to figure out what's difference between the v01b and the vz-b.

tower gives the following specs:

vz-b: 2.45PS/40,000 RPM
V01B: 2.4 BHP at 32,000 RPM

the same power at lower RPM's means the v01b is a better accelerator where the vz-b has more top-end?

rob- that is correct, plus, the new VZ doesn't have the boost chamber that the VO1b has. Basically, the difference between the two engines wont be dramatic, its just OS's newest mill.

Keep in mind, though, that OS underrates the HP on there engines, if u talk to them on the phone, they will say that they dont have much faith in HP numbers, because they can be skewed so much. Your hyper 8port Race claims 2.8hp, yet i know a VO1B is faster.

NA, you are correct.
OS decided that the boost chamber was not effective on this mill.
I can tell you that during break-in I have found the power and acceleration to be superior over my already broken in Hyper 8.
Is this because its in a buggy rather than a Maxx? Could be...

eddy - it is a combo of both. mostly due to the fact that it is a buggy - but also a much faster mill

one of my buddies has this mill in his storm pro, i got to see it in action yesterday, oh my, a lot of power!

How about an update? I am considering getting this engine. I need an engine that I will not have problems finding parts for. RB and Novarossi parts are hard to come by around here. So how does this engine stack up against say a WS7II or P5?

Tex

Tex - it is an OS - enough said, lol. I have the previous model of this engine, the .21RZ(VO1B) - and parts are all over the place. Also use an OS CV-R mill in my touring car, again, no problem for parts. OS engines are about as common as Honda's

Thanks Nitroaddict. :)
Parts availability is one of the reasons I am looking at the OS. I have a RB C5 in my buggy now. And it is a wild ride to say the least. But I dread the day I have to find parts for it. Not to mention the cost. OS parts are easy to get and the price is reasonable. :)
So how does it run? Being only a three port I would imagine the engine would have great bottom end torque. But probably would run out of breath before the 7+ port club.

Tex

gotta be honest with you - the engine is a beast! havnt raced with it yet, as most of my weekends are taken up by regional on-road races, however - it does have a better top end than my friends hyper 8port - if thats any comparison, which it really isnt, lol.
