I have been thinking about getting the ntc3. I have heard a lot of good things, in fact I have herd so many good things it doesn’t seem real. Does any one here think that the ntc3 is a bad car? If so what are its problems.

Thanks a lot,
NitroPyro

TC3's are not a bad choice,at all, but, consider a HPI, I owned an origanal RS4 belt drive and drove it to victory numerous times until I invested in the RS4 3ss kit!!! I love it and wouldnt go with any other on road kit. parts are generally in stock not that youll need replacements just hop ups! the only thing I've managed to break was a turnbuckle and a dogbone in a hydious crash at the track. They are all but bulletproof

Is the Rs4 3ss a good car for racing? I thought it was more for parking lots and bashing.

with alittle tweaking, anything can be a racer, I added a CVEC pipe MOTOR SAVER filter, lightened vented flywheel and a racing clutch with a carbon brake dish some 50weight shock oil and some different springs,VERY MINOR HOP-UPS!!! It isnt the fastest car at the track but I'm very competitive due to plenty of power and a great handleing race car! Racing is about skill!

Hey, I have the SS, and it is an all out race car if you put time and money into it. You have to do quite a bit to make them racworthy. I have won 37 out of 48 races in all. If you want to know what I had to do to the car, just ask and I will list them all.
Peter

thats alot of mods!!! I also ditched the roll bar and I'm running real close neg. camber angles to yours sounds like you have a nice set up!!! have you got the complete carbon upper deck? I think itll be my next investment with the two shock towers!!!:marshall:

Hey, ya the whole radio tray is the upper deck. The shock towers add a real good and low centre of gravity.
Read the Hey RS4's, I want you to read my post at the bottom.
If you want more info to set the car up to be more of a race car with out spending a lot of money, just ask.
It is less than $100 to do it.
Peter

I'm always into tech info, especially if its on the cheap way to do something!!!

The reason you haven't heard much bad about the NTC3 is because there isn't anything really bad about it. One of the reasons it is so popular. That isn't to say that there aren't other cars out there that are also really good. The HPI RS4SS is one of them, so is the Trinity Reflex NT and the new 1/10th Serpent, and the Yokohomo GT4. It really is what you like.

I have to plan trip to the LHS, which really is not that local. Its only about two hours away.

I am guessing NA is on vacation. If he was reading this he would have nothing but praise about the NTC3. I know that he races the NTC3 and he loves it. I own the RTR version of the NTC3. Besides the kinda crappy stock radio the RTR version is very fast IMO. Use the search feature on this site and do a search for NTC3. You will find multiple threads about the NTC3.

mcvickj - here i am.

nitropyro - dave hit it on the head - the reason u dont hear bad things, is because theyre arnt any. the NTC3 is one of the most powerful, well handling race cars on the market today. Associated pioneered the nitro car back in 1975!!!!!!! this chassis has been tried and trued and has won MANY championship races. The vehicle is unbelievably strong - needs little or no hopups and is a proven winner.

Do not let the hpi guys sway u - the reason they jumped on this forum, is because they are jealous of the AE guys. Go to a national race, and see how many hpi's are there. there wont be any. it will be filled with serpents, trinity's and of course, ntc3's.

Good luck on purchasing the greatest all around touring car made.

first, savage squirrel, the title of this thread is "only good comments for the NTC3" so why would u tell him to get an HPI? Second, why would u recommend an hpi for bashing when the NTC3 is so clearly a better all around vehicle?
