ok so my buddy was playing around and then when he when to start it up again after it was shut off, and put the rotostart in and nothing is moving , not the piston nothing , you guys think it might be stripped, I'm thinking that but we just want a second opinion

if the rotostart shaft is spinng and the motor isn't turning either the owb is stripped or the start shaft is broken. I have had both happen.

Sounds like the OWB needs cleaned. Take it apart, clean it in denatured alchohol, nitro cleaner or I use brake cleaner. Re-oil with 3-n-1 or other LIGHT oil and you should be good to go. While it's apart there's a couple of things to consider. Check the shaft it rides on for wear and then to help extend the usefull life of the bearing, scroll down and check out my tip here. help for your OWB

Thanks alot !!!:worship: so glad that that rcnitrotalk site exist man or else i'd be screwed ! gonna check all of the above and see...appreciate it BYE

:OMG: I took it apart..and found-out that my engine cover plate(f4.1)part numb.1426,one of the corner (where the screw goes in) is broken off... any ideas of how much that piece cost about and is it available in any lhs or do i have order it from hpi racing company ??? Thanks

so is your oneway ok then , its not stripped or anything?(its lhs by the way)

and I'm not sure that the cover plate would affect anything of it not turing the internal components, please correct me if i am wrong somebody..

If your backplate is broken I would be more worried about running with a possible air leak. I would replace the backplate but seal it with some high temp silicone ( do a search on how this is done ), then before putting all back on the engine, clean the one way with some DA.

The cover plate will run you around 20 bucks or so... The part number is HPI1426. It's been a while since I looked, so the price may be more or less.

Hope that helps!

What is the mixture again? (DA)Denatured alcool ...where do i get that? And can i find high temp silicone at any auto departement like for example wal-mart ?

:opps: me again ! whats the stuff you put between the engine and the engine plate (hpi86069)?? is it the high temp silicone again ?

you would need a high temp silicone like rtv to seal the engine

That purple plate, you don't have to use RTV on. Only on the engines' components mating surfaces (try to say that 10 times fast, lol).

LOL ok now hold on...first whats a rtv ? secondly do i need to put anything between the engine and the engine plate ? and last but not least...where do i get the denatured alcool ? THANKS

rtv is a sealant, sorta kinda pretty much like silicone, just the high temp stuff can with stand high temps. this should be able to be found at pretty much any auto parts store that carries silicone base products in the squeeze tubes.

Denaturated Alcohol is a cleaner, which can be found at every paint store deffinatly. possibly sears. lowe's and menards both carries it i know. hardware stores should also carry it. will be a in a red and blue aluminum can. well it is around here atleast.

Is there a reason why my engine's cover plate(the corner where the screw on the bottom left corner) broke off ?could it be that the rotostart was loose?

broke off? as in the head snapped off?

was it while you were tightening it down?
never heard of one just randomly snapping..
while the backplate was held on by 2 other screws..
might have been because it was loose, and was only held to the engine by the 2 screws on the right hand side. big possibility.

nope did not play with the screws

the rotostart was holding with 3 other screws i think...
NOPE your right the 2 on th righthand side...sorry

rtv is silicone, you shouldnt have to put anything between the engine and the plate but all around the outside, and the last , well , i dont know
